XBL Gold and Silver?

I am debating whether or not to invest in an xbox live gold membership, but I have a few questions.

What do you get with the gold that doesn't come with the silver?

So why would they even include Silver XBL if you can't play online? Doesn't really make a lot of sense to me?

So you can download trailers, demos, and Xbox Arcade games.

Basically, it's a teaser to get you to pony up the full load.

If you buy the Gold, buy the box, not the card. Its a good deal.

I got it last night at Future shop, 69.99 Cdn.
It includes a headset, sells for 39.99 Cdn
Includes Bank Shot Billiards 2, worth 1200 points, or 19.00 Cdn
Includes a rebate for 25 Cdn off purchase of a game
Includes 200 points, plus your 12 mos of Gold Live.

That was 10 off at Future shop, the Gold Live card, 13 mos is 59.99, doing the math on those items, its a real bargain.

Yeah it's an insanely good deal.

Basically though the difference has been explained. Live Silver allows you to chat, download content from the market place, play in the arcade, and for posting to the leaderboards as well as displaying you're gamerscore online.

Gold allows you to access full online gameplay. That's pretty much it.
