ok what is with all of these friggin people disconnecting in the middle of a wi fi match on Mario kart ds, i dont understand why they dont take the loss like a man. what you dont wanna ruin you large winning average just for friggin 1337 rights? is it becuase i like using R.O.B.? Or is it becuase you suck at playing people online, even with the stars you've earned?! I might not be the best playing or even a decent player but i take a loss if it happens i lose. i just wonder why a lot of people can't do the same.

man, I wonder the same thing, every time I play xbox live, I run the risk of some douche dropping on me in the middle of a game, I don't get assholes, and why they can't take a loss like a man/woman... what is wrong with people?

Because these people think that if they drop it won't affect their record.

The reality is that it still counts as a loss for them and a win for you if you pull off the race :P

Either that or they don't want to waste their time if they don't have a chance of coming back.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that, with the way the WFC currently works, pulling from a match registers as no win/no loss. There's NO penalty, which is why you see it happen so often. Annoying, I know.

That would really piss me off. I hope when I start playing it on WiFi that it doesn't happen that much.

yeah i hate when people do that. i would have had close to double that amount of wins i have if people didnt always pull the plug :(

I dont know why you don't take a loss when you "drop out".

Perhaps there should be a total of how many games you have "dropped out" from. If someone has a high number (or %) of dropping out its going to be lonely playing online. :)

They do it because there are no repercussions with stats and whatnot in the game. THERE SHOULD BE.

The reasoning behind not counting it is probably that so many people have shitty internet connections that drop them sometimes. Just as many people would bitch that they have a loss on their record that wasn't their fault and that they couldn't appeal to a higher authority about it. So, no win, no loss when someone pulls out. Stupid, I know.

You make up an interesting point. I have a great internet connection, but I've been dropped twice by the WFC. Also, even if there were a stat that showed how many matches a player had dropped from, it wouldn't matter. The WFC is so fucking limited on options that you can't even choose your opponents.

This happened to me the first time I played. I haven't played a non-friend game since...here's hoping they find a way to change the rules.

I'm pretty sure it does count as a loss now if you disconnect. I heard they changed that a while ago. When my connection craps out for whatever reason, I'm sure my loss total go up by 1. Ditto for when an opponenent disconnects, I get another win. I think the race has to be going for some time though... Maybe a couple of us can do some tests! :D

As you guys pointed out earlier, sometimes you just get disconnected. It's funny though because I just think of when I get disconnected the other person probably thinks I'm the one who did it and I'm lame.. and yes I am often losing LOL

I'll admit too it, I've done it before. Only because my opponents were lagging so freaking badly I couldn't win or make a correct judgement to where they were.

It is a problem though. They should make a state called "Pussy", and every time you drop out it adds to the tally.

Wins - 10
Loses - 5
Pussy - 100

Having just played the game and having both of my opponents disconnect during the final race, I can say that you DO NOT receive a win for an opponent disconnect. However, I tested it once by disconnecting on purpose, and I think I received a loss for every opponent I was currently racing against. Sucks that you don't get wins tho.

interesting, i'd still like to see wins counted for being the last one connected :^S

I remeber the one and only time I played on MK over wifi. I must have lost to the same guy like 10 times. then once I started getting the hang of it you know keeping up and getting ahead of him...... He drops on me.

At least I didn't have to hear what I hear on Xbox live. belive it or not. I found it comforting that my rival didn't have the ability to be an asshat.

Quiet online multiplayer... wave of the future.

I hope that they do something about the dropping too. It's not fair to people who suck it up and take their losses. It's sad that a W-L record is more important than just having a good race against a decent challenger. If I won all the time, I'd get bored. If I lost all the time, I'd just get better.

just sayin'...

My Wi-Fi is complete and utter crap.

I have no Access Point in range, so I had to get the USB thing, which ran me another $40. Out of probably 50 times of searching regional and worldwide, i've faced one other Mario Karter, had 2 races with them, and it's never worked since. That was a week or so ago.

The only way that I can seem to play is by adding a friend, in which me and a friend can play, if my Wi-Fi isn't being stubborn.

By stubborn, I mean, it'll start to connect, and then a black screen will come up saying "You have been disconnected blah blah blah error code 85020" or something like that. It does that in a couple of different ways:

a) Trying to connect to Wi-Fi
b) If it searches for an opponent, after a minute or so it'll disconnect
c) In the middle of a game, it'll freeze, and then that comes up

It's kicked me off in the middle of 2 games, and those are my only disconnects.

I think my record is 3-12, and I don't care about losses, someone is gonna think that i'm a n00b, and race me, and I may beat their asses :D

But yeah, any help on the stupid disconnecting screen?
