What is with all of the EA releases for the DS being so damn buggy? I've been grabbing various releases whenever I can get them cheap, and all of the EA ones have had major problems:

Sims 2 - loses textures sometimes, loses screen display often by doing simple things like running toward the edge of the desert, certain characters / elements were obviously not completed (people will ask you to do things you can't do in the game). It's a fun game, but the bugs are incredibly bad.

Madden '05 - I got this at the Toys R Us clearance sale, and for one game I was sort of impressed... but then I realized how some of the simplest rules in the game of football were not being followed in the game -- such as the ability to kick an extra point after time has expired in a game.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted - This game just seems half done at best. Wow is it bad.

While I've been getting nearly everything for the DS I could find for cheap, I might start avoiding EA releases for it now. Are other games better, or is this the same sort of thing that I found to be the case on my Xbox and GameCube with their titles? Lack of quality control.

Except for Burnout Legends but technically that was Criterion. EA is just trying to make a profit. They know the cool kids want Madden.

Oh, and add Marvel: Rise of the Imperfects to that list. That's another game that I thought would be fun and it didn't keep me playing for more than about 10 minutes because it is so broken. Same with Golden Eye: Rogue Agent. Nice graphics, interesting control scheme... but overall, it feels unfinished and like they just wasted the potential.

I have the Urbz on their way which I'm now leery about but had been excited for, and I just picked up Tiger Woods and was excited for that too, but the more games I play, the less chances I have for buying more of their games in the future. Either they are great game concepts that feel really uncomplete or horrible games. Madden could be done really well on the DS, and I thought it would be. It was complete crap. The Sims 2 could've been awesome, but it falls flat thanks to the feeling it is way underfinished.

Out of the 11 DS games EA released, I have played enough to feel that I can judge five of them, and all of them have stunk. I have another two on the way. I had been thinking about picking up FIFA and Burnout, but I'll definitely be staying away from those now too. It's disappointing that their games have been so bad off.

EA just needs to stop making DS games. Simple as that.

Add Need For Speed Underground 2 to the list of big steaming DS turds from EA. That game is pretty much like racing on mattresses. After the lackluster Burnout, and seeing the absolutely insulting Marvel: RotI, I think I'm going to stay away from EA stuff without reading reviews first. Heh.

Typically the the only games EA has ever made worthwhile on a handheld (Game Boy included) are Need for Speed titles, and that's simply because they had Pocketeers behind them, now with Most Wanted the series has gone back to shit.

When I bought my PSP it came with Tiger Woods Golf, man that game is just sloppy on all grounds.

EA never seems to make good handheld games, they are always half assed. Anyone who has played Need for Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0 on PSP can tell you it is almost identical to Rivals, same with their DS games.

It's sad that the majority of EA games on the DS and PSP seem to be weak afterthoughts. One wonders if even Acclaim would have published better stuff. It's getting harder and harder to stick up for EA when they pull this shit.

Maxis developed Sims 2 tho.
I never had any big problems with EA games. Maybe they dont got enough skills to make DS games great yet hehe :P

The most recent and Decent EA game I've played was Burnout Revenge. the Last decent EA game before that was C & C: Generals - Zero Hour. nothing inbetween there has been good or even decent IMO. not including the sims games.

EA is turning out to be another Accliam (SP?) as far as I can tell.

Except, you know, the money part.

Except, you know, the money part.

That just means it'll take them longer to bleed themselves dry with shitty games.

Oddworld: Stranger is published by EA and that is a great game but like Burnout they didnt make it.

EA releases games that will appeal to mass audiences regardless of quality. They simply want the bottom line top dollar.

Wal-Mart is to retailers as EA is to game publishers.

Personally, I think Acclaim got a lot more crap then they deserved for their titles. I have a TON of Acclaim titles for my GameCube and I haven't found any of them to be bad. These EA games are just horrendous though. I did have problems with most of my EA Xbox games too... I don't understand how they can be releasing this stuff and still making money on them.

Maxis developed Sims 2 tho.

As an in-house division of EA. From everything that I have read and been told by people that I know, Maxis = EA for all intensive purposes now.

Poofta!

some of you guys are mixing up EA development studios with EA publishing. not all of these games were DEVELOPED by EA. some where just PUBLISHED by EA, in that EA had nothing to do with their coding, although i guess unrealistic deadlines mightve contributed to their suck.

Yeah. And from what I've read, EA tried to kill the Sims many times. If it weren't for Will Wright using his cred and putting his rep on the line, there wouldn't be any Sims at all. I think EA just looks for brands on which to slap games.
