Take a look:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7000051520

They state their images are from their OWN auctions, yet the seller is only a 135. If they really listed that many GameBoy auctions, there Feedback would be a lot higher than that.

Secondly, some of those images have been grabbed from eBay themselves. You can tell because of the transparent camera watermark on the bottom left of some of the pics. Wouldnt you prepare making a collection of photos using your original work??? (Meaning no watermarks)??

Thirdly, if coming from the same seller... wouldnt the backgrounds of the pics be somewhat similar?? Granted, I haven't seen very many of the available ones (just the demo ones), but I bet you.. within the 2000+ pics... I'd bet anything there's about 100+ different backgrounds.

My thoughts: I think this seller has been accumulating these pics over a period of time from other people's auctions, and is trying to pass it off as his own copyrighted work.

If it truly is someone's copyrighted work, then why is there a watermark logo (one thats probably against their wishes) in the photos?

Hm.. ye, the pics might be taken from other auctions, but the real problem here is the seller is selling ROMs. I dont mind ROMs as long as they are free, but when someone is trying to make money on it, thats lame :\
Report him to Ebay.

the seller isn't selling roms. the seller is selling pictures.

it's the fact that they have over 2000 images they have used for their ebay auctions over the years, yet their ebay account only has a feedback score of 135. the watermarks could be from the fact that they used these pictures in auctions of their own, but their feedback shows this clearly isn't the case. i also don't know much about the DMCA, but i'm pretty sure you wouldn't file a lawsuit under it for copyright infringement for illegal use of pictures. it seems like quite the empty threat.

the whole auction seems pretty laughable to me. watch another one begin from the same seller right after this one ends.

I like the "You don't have to use stock photos anymore" comment. Sure, just use somebody ELSE'S stock photos instead.

Was this listing removed by the person or eBay? It doesnt tell you. I still think it's wrong to save pictures up on ebay (complete with the watermark camera logo) and try and re-sell them there EVEN IF the original photo is yours.

Remove the watermark, then maybe I dont have a problem with it anymore.

PS - For the record, I didnt complain to eBay about this auction, I only expressed my opinion with other game collectors here at DP.
