Is this game just really easy when you have unlimited continues or something? Earlier today, I played it for the first time ever on the Capcom Classics collection and I whizzed through the entire game.
Still, I love Capcom shooters...

Compared to the Genesis/Megadrive port? Oh ya too easy by far

Of course the Genesis version does have a way of getting unlimited continues, the key is something to do with 2 players, but I don't exactly remember how, guess I'll find out when it comes in the mail in a bit (along with Strider for Genesis).

I was playing this last night myself. Except for the excellent voices ("Did ya' find the guy?") I think I actually like the Genesis version a little better. Not just for the unlimited continues thing, but because the gunfire is so loud in the arcade version that it's all you can hear.

I thought the sound effects were too loud as well, but then I "discovered" that you can adjust the sound effects and music volumes in the menu. Problem solved.

In a 2 player game for the Genesis, you just press start on the other controller to bring him back to life.

Thanks how could I have forgotten something this easy, I think my memory is shot from age (even if I'm not that old).
Only thing I knock against the game is the removal of 1 stage, but I'm sure it was to save cart space.

Me and my cousin blow through this game pretty much once a week. It's very fun, albeit ridiculously easy.

Actually, it's 3 stages. (1 in the egyptian word, 1 in the ice world and 1 in the tower). But even with that and the downsized graphics, the Genny version is still pretty damn good.

I alwyas though that some of the levels reminded me of the graphical style of some parts of Thunder Force 2 for some reason.
Anyway, wasn't there a TG-16 version of this? What was different between them?

There was a Turbo Duo version. It had all of the arcade version's levels and the speech in the intermissions.
