Which NES Mega Man game is your favorite? Mine is Mega Man 3. And not just because I have the best memories playing it out of all 6 NES games. The play control was improved over MM I & II, the sound effects were better, it was the first MM game where you could slide, Rush and Proto Man were first introduced, and finally...I thought it had the best soundtrack out of all 6 for the NES. Although...I really like the soundtracks to all of them.

I have only played Mega Man 1 and only for 2 minutes.

Mega Man IV, since it was the first that did not have Dr. Wily. It may have disappointed a few fans, but I liked the Russian theme to it.

Mega Man III and II is legendary, but I'm an underdog fan!

I've got to put the vote in for Mega Man 2. Just so vastly improved over the first one, and the ones that came after were like movie sequels... you can only have so many before they go downhill fast.

Now, granted, downhill means "compared to MM2". Compared to all other NES games, they still rank pretty high.

And even though this wasn't asked... my order after 2 would be 4, 3, 6 with 1 and 5 being abstained from as I haven't played them much. 4 for the personal memories. I felt 3 was a bit too long and drawn out, but by the time 6 came out it was wearing pretty damn thin.

How could you not vote for 2, Music, Level Design, Bosses all perfection. Each stages was unique yet never went on too long.

Easy....MM2.

Good levels, good music, just good.

But i think the MM series peaked at 3.

i belive wily was still in it, but i donno, after beating 14 different megaman games the next thing you know, wily married sigma, roll imacuatly concived rush, while meganam and zero were getting a divorce because Dr.Light forgot to gave megaman the love circuit

i voted 4, the effects were much improved upon and you could charge the main weapon

Mega Man II it is. Mega Man hasn't been back up to that level since. And hey, in the last EGM (or maybe it was Game Informer), the creator of Mega Man said himself that Mega Man II was the best and his favorite.

Can't beat that.

Dr. willy was in 4, he was manipulating dr. cossack (kidnapped his family) into doing his bidding.

but i'd say I love all of them, but 3 and 2 were pretty speical overall. 3 was awesome because you could refight the bosses from 2 (though they were MUCH harder) great music fun levels decent weapons and lots of fun tricks.

2 is awesome just because well..its 2...way too easy but still a great game overall

1 gets special mention for having the coolest megaman weapon ever (elecbeam)

4-5 were bland and not terribly exciting (I only ever played 5 the day I got it..beat it and shelved it)

6 is alot better then people give it credit for, the extra powerup suits were nice...the multiple ways to beat levels (to get the megaman letters and the true/fake bosses) was a nice touch

MM2 without a doubt! It's the most memorable, fun, and I played that game to death. MM lacked some of the key features MM2 had, and after MM2 the sequels just lacked a spark that 2 had.

I agree with most people that MM2 is by far the best. The music, the bosses, it's just perfect. In fact, one of my top 3 games of all time. MM3 and MM5 would come in a close 2nd for me. MM4 was pretty tough, and I never did get around to finishing number 6, as I only aquired it fairly recently.

Mega Man 3 easy. It's in another league of its own.

I voted for 2 since it's the only one I've really played. I've tried some of the others but now that I'm older they all seem like the same game, and the stuff they've added seems forced.

This topic has pretty much been done to death, but I'm always willing to support ol Rock! (Rock is Megaman's real name [for all you n00bs out there]; It comes from his japanese title, "Rockman")

...Anyways, I'd have to say MMIII. It was really the last TRUE megaman game, the controls were vastly improved, it was'nt as hard as some of the ealier games, it had quite a few cool little glitches/tricks in it, it introduced Protoman, Rush, and even the slide move, It had outstanding graphics and excellent music;

need i say more?

Mega Man 3. It was the first one I got, so it will be the most memorable to me.

Mega Man 2 was tough. I remember I couldn't beat the final boss because I ran out of energy for my energy tanks. :(

I like Mega Man 3 the best. I havent really played any of the others for a long time, but 3 is definitely a great game.

Mega Man 2 was the first MM title that I ever played, and IMO, still remains the pinnacle of the series due to virtues that a couple of others on here have already pointed out. The music, levels, and control are simply sublime, although it is a bit easy compared to a lot of the other titles in the series. This does make the game quite a blast to complete repeatedly, though!

I'd rank the rest of the series like this: 6, 5, 1, 3, and 4. Could never really get into MM3 like many others have, not sure why; MM4 is the bottom of the series, as everything feels rushed and subpar compared to the rest of the series. I actually thought the last two entries in the NES series were a huge improvement and almost upheld the extremely high standard of the second game, but I know there is a large contingent out there that don't like these two titles that much.
