I just got it installed on a new computer I got. For some reson, the game will just lock up after a few minutes. I am not playing a burned copy or anything like that. I downloaded a patch and installed it, but it keeps doing the same thing. The game starts fine and I get no video problems or sound problems. The game plays regular and then just freezes up my whole PC. I have to reset because I get no response. I installed frozen throne and it does the same thing. Anyone have this (or had this) problem?

Maybe it's my graphics card?? But why would it freeze my whole PC?

I have a XGI Volari Family card (don't ask, it came with it).
with 128 video MB and is running on windows XP with 256 MB ram.

I have other games and they run perfectly. This is the the only game I got a problem with. I would send Blizzard a note, but my friend told me they don't respond or they send a shitty automatic reply. Any help is appreciated.

Does its occurrence have any sort of pattern in relation to what's happening in the game? I know I had a lockup problem with it once that happened immediately after a cutscene ended. I can't seem to remember how I fixed it, though...:(

Does your computer lock up playing any other graphical intensive games? Is the video card Nvidia based? try updating your video drivers.

The graphics card is probably incompatible with the game.

what card do you all suggest I get that is most compatible with games? Or this one for that matter.

Do you know if you have integrated video with that graphics chipset? You could just be lacking available RAM after an integrated adapter takes 128 MB for video memory leaving you with 128 to run the program (which is the bare minimum for Warcraft 3). If that's the case, any dedicated video card (no really superior brand) is an improvement, and you'll easily find one in the $40-60 range. Buying more RAM will probably help, too.

Post your model and manufacturer of computer, that'll help narrow down upgrade options. At the least, you'll need to find out if you have AGP, PCI, or PCI-Express slots to get a video card that fits in your machine.
