View Full Version : Nintendo M82
I have been looking at getting one for a while and have a few questions.
What is the going rate for one?
Does anyone here have one or know of someone willing to sell one?
What were the original 12 games that came in it?
How heavy is it?
Once I get an idea of what is going to be spent on it, I will probably give out a finders fee or gaming surprise to someone who finds on at a decent price.

HMMM... maybe you should bother to freakin research the thing, and not make a stupid, pointless comment like you did.
as for the m-82, the prices on things like that tend to fluctuate greatly, it all comes down to how long it has been since one has been for sale, and how bad the people want it who are bidding on it (ebay will probably be your only choice)
i believe atleast one person here has one, hopefully they can help you out with some info.

The M82 was a demo system for kiosks that held 12 games or so, iirc. Was this the system with the black carts? Or did it take standard NES carts? I forget. I remember hearing something about the pin configuration on the black carts actually being different than an NES, but I don't know if there's any truth to that.
Weren't there Fami and NES versions of the M82, or was the Fami version called someting else? Or was the Fami version actually the m82 and the NES version called something else?

For those wondering what an M82 is:
http://membres.lycos.fr/romualdl/ech/m82a.jpg
It's one of the store NES demo kiosks. Very cool bit of kit.
Seems there was one on Ebay UK during December 05. Went for £185. Check it here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Very-rare-NINTENDO-M82-nes-exclusive-games-console_W0QQitemZ8240668314QQcategoryZ3617QQcmdZVi ewItem). Not sure if the games listed are the original ones that came with the unit?
EDIT: Mr 330 Mega is right though. I couldn't have told you this was an M82, I've always known it as a 'NES demo unit', or the like. Amazing what use Google is......

If anyone is interested, there is a replacement Playchoice 10 BIOS out there in the vastness of the interweb.
Normaly, you can only use PC10 carts with a PC10 MoBo. This replacement allows you to use any NES cart. Splendid. 10 cart multichanger NES, with RGB out as standard. :D

id have to agree with Max on this one...please don't be so immature it brings the average intelligence of the boards down quite dramatically.

Cosmic Monkey, I'm a bit confused about what you mean. Replacement BIOS? What exactly for? The PC10 games I thought just had a different Pin configuration than NES carts....putting an NES cart in a PC10 isn't just a hardware issue (making an adapter)?
Where does one find this bios?

I used to have 2 of them, believe it or not (got 'em for 75 $ a piece). I sold them a while back to get money.
You could stick in 12 different normal NES cart in it and then choose wich to play with a knob on the machine. On the back was another knob where you would change the time one game would play before it restarted and went back to the title screen (you could turn the timer function off completely if you wanted).

it would seem that the pinout of PC10 carts isn't different. They just have some sort of security code/chip that the PC10 checks for. This replacement BIOS removes that check, and allows you to use normal NES carts. 10 of them. In RGB.
EDIT: No you are right, the PC10 cart pinout is different to the standard NES pinout. Trying to find PC10 pinout now. God knows why they changed the pins and put a security check on the carts.

Didn't Darth Vader 'win' won at the CGE auction or something? I seem to recall something like that. When I say 'win,' I mean, bought. But he won the auction.
Either way, I've been looking at those recently. They'd definitely be something I would want to add to my collection. Its definitely got the 'cool' factor written all over it.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks, dude. As much as I'd like an RGB NES, I hate having to destroy a PC10 board to get the processor from it.
From what I understand now, there's 2 ways to get RGB NES games:
1. Make a cart adapter (NES to PC10) and install the modified PC10 bios.
2.Rip the the processor out of a PC10 and install it in the NES...route the RGB lines to an RGB port.
I've been asking around on andoff about a NES to PC10 adapter for a while, but no one's ever been able to confirm to me their attempting or doing it before.
I take it an M82 or the famicombox doesn't have RGB?

They didn't want arcade owners to buy the cheaper nes cartridges. It's basically the same thing SNK did with their Neo Geo arcade machines.
