Is anyone else anxiously awaiting an announcement for Monkey Island 5? I've been playing Escape From Monkey Island on my PS2 again and it got me all sad that we might not see the series again. :(

I would love to see this as well. Too bad that adventure game lovers are the minority nowadays so I doubt it'll ever happen. Good thing we have a new Sam & Max coming our way!

Hot damn, I loved that game too. Classic stuff. Too bad there probably won't be a sequel.

I'd like a Monkey Island 5 where I could use my mouse. That whole keyboard thing was horrid.

I'd like to see a MI5, but Lucas Arts is not the LA we all loved anymore. Ron Gilbert and all of the old adventure programmers left the company years ago and the current games are horrible :(

I think a portable system could be a good avenue for adventure games, I love playing Monkey Island 1 and 2 on my PSP.

But yes, I am whole-heartidly looking foward to getting my mitts on any lucas-arts adventure game.

PSP? the DS with it's Touchscreen would be the obvious and perfect choice for this...

I have to say, I agree with McBacon. I've played Monkey Island on both, and while the touch-screen is handy, I prefer playing it on the PSP.

On-topic, I'd love to see another Monkey Island, but only if Ron Gilbert was involved. And I certainly wouldn't want it in 3D, and I don't want to be using my damn keyboard, either.

Amen. Ron Gilbert, where are you? I'd like a good Monkey Island that returns to the basics.

Where he mentions he is talking to people about a new game, which everyone thinks is going to be an adventure game.

Was the Sam & Max license bought, or "rented" out (if that is the right phrase)?

I'm pretty sure it was bought out.

Wait, it's possible to play Monkey Island on the DS? That could actually give me reason to use the damn thing. I don't suppose you know of any good guides, suitable for a simpleton like me?

There are a few topics about this on DP. The ScummVM DS (http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/) web site explains a little, too. An out-of-the-box DS won't be enough, but if you're willing to spend a few bucks...

Goodluck :)

You want a new Monkey Island?

Just combine some owl spit, a manhole cover, toothpaste and a Ford F150 in a mop bucket, then swab the concoction on your forehead before allowing yourself to leave the house.

It'll be just like living a dream.

Face it, the puzzles make no sense.

From what I heard, Monkey Island 4 pleased no one.

I didn't think it was great. I thought it was a quite average game that was saddled with some dreadful controls (I don't understand how something could work so well in Grim Fandango yet be so fiddly in MI.) However, there was a tiny bit of Murray action, which made it slightly more acceptable.
