View Full Version : TurboDuo sound fix conclusion?

I remember a while back D-Lite had discovered something about solving the TurboDuo sound problem by replacing two cheap capacitors in the audio circuit. (I couldn't find the thread with the search feature)

Was that solution conclusive? I mean, is that the end of it? My PC Engine Duo works find most of the time, but every now and then the sound drops out. So I think the opamps and whatnot are still good, and maybe I should go ahead and change those caps. But I'm just checking to make sure that won't ultimately be a waste of time.

Change those caps, and most times it's fixed. :)

believe D-Lite has been working on this issue and according to him he's partially fixed the issue...

yet to see/heard any update since though

I'm resurrecting this thread because my TurboDuo has suddenly decided not to play any CD sound. Plays games just fine, and when I load up an audio CD, it seems to play it without a hitch. It's just that no CD audio is heard.

Did anybody get anwhere with this?

It depends on the failure, as not all failures in the op amp circuit are in the same location. Each unit is a bit different.

I've had 100% success rate repairing audio issues, but each time I think I've seen it all, another one comes up with me hunting down the offending part of the circuit.

Can you do that without and oscilloscope? Or is there a guide to what parts are supposed to measure what values? (I assume you're checking against a good Duo)

I do it by manually searching. Sometimes numerous caps have to be replaced.
