This is probably a really dumb question, but it's one I don't have an answer to. My genny's a/v cable went missing. GameCrazy doesn't have any. Any idea where I can buy a new one? Online stores are fine, but I want to stay away from auctions, if I can.

Isn't the genny AV just a simple straight Yellow cable? I could be wrong but I have a genny (version 1 ) and I have one yellow cable (like the standard av style ) plugged into a RF converter.

No, the Genesis cable wasn't just a straight composite cable. It also depends on which model you have. Do you have Model 1, 2, or 3? Also, if there are any flea markets near you, you can usually find those cables dirt cheap.

If it's a model 1, good luck. Those AV cables are really hard to find. Models 2 and 3 used different ones.

I've seen a couple on eBay, the auction stated they could be used with Genesis 1s or Neo Geo AES, but while both of them use 8-pin DIN connectors, my Neo Geo cable will not fit into the Genesis' port- the pins are a little farther from the center.

I need to pick up one of these Genesis 1 cables myself, I'm getting sick of this RF shit. :/

Click the button in the upper left to toggle from US/CDN pricing. The Gen 1 and 2 cables are near the bottom of the page.

Thanks for the link. I've been wanting one of those for my Genny 2 / 32X for the longest time. I can't believe it took me 20 seconds to buy it. @_@

No they're not. Besides, even a monkey could build one from scraps found around the house. For composite, all you need is a DIN-5 and two RCA connectors. My first Sega A/V cable was just spliced together from cables found around the stereo.

Turns out Omnedon has those in stock, too! ;D

I got an AV cable for my Genesis 1, and it works and all...but the sound crackles when there is a high pitched noise and it also makes the colors way to rich. Is that a problem all of them have, or just mine?

Have you tried "The Exchange"? They are all over the Cleveland area. Give them a call, they will send it to your nearest store. I've seen them there in the past.

They shouldn't be; I got one, well, about 3 years ago now, from Ebay for cheap.

The Exchange, you say? Hmmm....there's one in North Olmstead, right near me, and I have business up there tomorrow, anyway. Maybe I'll check them out. If not, I'll definitely be dropping Omnedon a line about getting one ordered from his store. Hell, I may place an order at his store even if I find a local cable! He's got some great stuff on there.

Oh, and it's good to see a fellow Clevelander about.

When in doubt, change your cable...I ran into an experience recently where somebody else was having video problems, and replacing the cable fixed it.

If you are using an RF switchbox to play your system now, you might as well be playing with earmuffs on and scratched glasses.

Possibly the most overused Quote on that page. Really annoying.

I was looking for a link to this page. Thanks.

Not sure if this helps, but a PC Engine cable will also do the trick for the video if you have one handy...don't plug the audio for it in, though, you'll just get noise. You can get stereo sound from the headphone jack (you can't get stereo from the rear of the system).

For a long while I actually had a bare wire sitting in the hole on the connector for the video output. x_x Would fall out at the most inopportune times...

:( LOL

I cut and paste into similar descriptions, rather than get a thesaurus out for every description. LOL
