Can someone tell me why this Atari 2600 Jr. looks different?

The one on the bottom is the one in question. Every Atari 2600 Jr. I have seen, looks like the top one, yet where did this one (with the small font) come from?

The little rainbow stripe Jr. is the original Atari Inc. console, before Atari was sold to Tramiels.
