Hello everyone. I have recently acquired a couple of systems that either work partially or just don't work.

Does anyone know of any way, or a tool, to clean the contacts on the Atari system itself. I have seen all kinds of ways to clean the carts, but not the system.

As for the Playstation, it powers on, plays games, and works, but the sound is just jacked up. Distortion city. I have tried new cables so I know it's not that. Is it possible that the chip has fried somehow or am I just SOL and have to buy another one. No big loss, I got this one for $2.

Thanks in advance.

If the Playstation is a Original, I had one JUST LIKE IT.

Was it manufactured in 1999? There should be a label on the system that says the year that it was made.

Mine had a static sound when it powered up, and the audio was distorted when it was playing, although the problem went away after you played it a little bit. (But it would come back after the system was turned off)

In the end, i traded it to Gamestop.

I paid $1 for it, so it was OK to trade in.

Very certain that it is not the games because I have another 2600 and they work on it. Pretty sure it's dirt because I know that it was stored in a dirty separated garage, more than likely not in a box.

The only date on the PlayStation is 1997, but I could be looking in the wrong place after a quick glance.
