A few years ago when i began collecting Genesis games i bought a complete copy of Bubsy from a friend and it was in pretty rough shape so the 'Sega Seal of Quality' lost its stickiness to the box and fell off. Since then i've been trying to find a mint condition copy but every single copy i've seen between gamestores and even Ebay seem to be missing this seal.
So did this game originally not have a Sega Seal of Quality or is it just a coincidence that every other copy I've seen doesnt have it.
If you have ever actually played this game, you might agree that it is not worth any "seal of quality". :P

LOL
Its not surprising that Sony didn't bother with seals of "quality" for the PS1 library, considering how few PS1 games were actually worth playing.

Hey that's uncalled for, that statement is....
actually pretty much true, considering how many games were released on the system the good game to bad game ratio is pretty bad. I withdraw my objection.
As for the genesis game, I have also seen many used copies of Bubsy but I do not remember ever seeing the sega seal on it either. Perhaps the sticker fell off of a quality game and had the misfortune of sticking to a Bubsy box?

I actually liked the Sega Genesis version. I don't think Sega put their seal on any of the Accolode games since Sega tried to sue them during the early 90's. I don't think it was suppose to be there originally.

Does every bubsy game ever released have some kind of starburst on the packaging?

Accolade was an unlicensed publisher, so not a lot of their games had a seal on them.
I know that Star Control, Mike Ditka Football, and Onslaught (as well as many early EA games) won't work on a Sonic Genesis (with the "Presented or under license by Sega Enterprises" startup screen.) Does Bubsy?

Bubsy has to work with the "Sonic Genesis" as it came out in like late '92 or early 1993.

If the sticker gold with black printing, then I believe I may have one. I'll double check tonight.

I can confirm the game had a sticker of the seal on it. When I got my copy last year, the sticker was on it, but just barley. I soon came off and I stuck it in the box with the game. So yes the game did come with the sticker on it.

Wow, all this negative attitude for this game. I think its awesome. I dont really recall if I prefer the SNES version over the Genesis, but were they really THAT different?

Hm. I bought this game new 'back in the day'. Loved it then, and don't regret it now. Don't know why it gets a bad rep. I still have it too, complete with unopened trading cards :)

I'be got the seal AND the TV Special sticker. Maybe I can retire now?
I loved this game when it came out. I loved the sequel, too.
Bubsy 3D was a piece if shit though.

I don't understand why people dislike Bubsy. I loved the game personally. It was so much fun.

I liked Bubsy on the NES "back in the day." I guess people just hated him for the phony, over the top 'tude.
One thing that always bugged me, though. On the box, there's a promo for either a TV special or a cartoon series, but I never saw it. Did it actually air?

And we have a winner in the "Why does everyone hate Bubsy?" sweepstakes. ;)

Apparently they made a single pilot episode. I don't know if it was ever aired.

Now that the subject of TV specials has been brought up, wasn't there a Battletoads TV special?

Apparently there was a series that ran from 1991-1994: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0299260/
