I'm looking for a bare bones Neo-Geo AES. I need the system itself, the power supply, and a controller. I don't need any games or video cables or anything like that.

I'm quite broke right now, so I definitely can't afford to be desperate and buy any old Neo that pops up on the market. But if you have an extra AES that you don't really need, then maybe we can strike a deal.

We can work out a deal for cash, or trade or a cash/trade combo. If possible, I'm trying to find a Neo-Geo with an earlier serial number. From what I can gather, the earlier serial numbers are better at outputting a RGB signal, and that is the way that I'm going to use it. One guy recommended that I find a Neo-Geo with a serial number between 20,000 and 33,000. Of course, this isn't a mandatory requirement, but I'm hoping it has a decent RGB picture.

Try www.japangamesnow.com I bought from Ryan before. I told him I just wanted an AES without any joysticks since I already had some and he said it was OK and even sold it at a lower price. So email him and talk to him and explain your situation to him. I'm sure he'll understand.

So would that be for a Japanese Neo-Geo AES system? Do the Japanese AES systems play U.S. carts? Is there any kind of lockout chip or anything?

No teritorial lock out and us carts play on jap systems BUT they will play it in jap. And vice versa on us systems and jap carts

I know that it's an expensive path to take, but for me, it's more of dipping my toe in the water than anything. I've already bought 4 carts, and I tried to get those 4 carts for the lowest possible price I could (shipped). Believe me, I'm a cheap ass bastard. I will go out of my way to save an extra $5, and I'm very concerned with the bottom line price with the shipping and everything included. The four carts that I got are

Baseball Stars 2 (loose) $35 shipped
2020 Super Baseball (complete) $28 shipped
Football Frenzy (complete) $20 shipped
Blue's Journey (complete) $40 shipped

I think I did relatively decent on those 4 games. Sure, 3 of them are sports games, and one of them is super crappy (football frenzy), but I just want to have about 10 carts to pop in and out, and I like the old sports games. I actually had a Neo way back in the day, and two of the games I had were 2020 and Football Frenzy. I'm also trying to find Magician Lord, Cyber-Lip and NAM-1975 for a very good price. I'll be content with about 10 of the cheapest carts. If I really get into it, then I will sell everything and get a consolized MVS. But right now, this is more of a test thing than anything. An extended rental if you will. I'm buying the stuff outright, but I plan on selling it about a year or so from now. So, it's kinda like I'm renting it for a year. I'm trying to get all my items for the cheapest possible price, so that when I turn around to sell it later on down the line, I don't take much of a loss, or maybe no loss whatsoever.

As far as I can see, the AES market has been pretty stagnant, while MVS stuff is going up. I think MVS would be a better buy right now, but that's just me. I'm getting into AES now because I have/had (sold and am rebuying) all the expensive MVS stuff i want, and am gonna stick to the sub-$75 AES carts.
