I started adding all the ID #'s to my game list, and have come across a few questions. Let me know if you can help me answer any of them.

Does anyone have a :
1. Bases Loaded with this ID.......NES-LD-USA-1 (I have a box, but no game like this)
2. Batman Return of the Joker with any ID other than NES-P48-USA (only game I have seen with 3 digits in the middle)
3. Hollywood squares with the a USA-1 on it (I have the black box, but no game)
4. Dragon Warrior with the USA-1 (I have the box, but no game)
5. Mega Man 6 with this version #NES-G6-USA (my verison has the USA-1 on it)
6. I am also looking for the ID# for Mickey's Letterland, there is no ID on the cart, it might be on the box. (also, I noticed there is a small Hi tech logo etched into the back on the cartridge, this is the only game I have ever seen like this. Is everyones like this to??)

Thanks guys

Nintendo part numbers don't mean much really. A -1, or -2, after the number indicated a revision of some sort. For example, when Game Boy became a registered trademark, R instead of TM, all the boxes and manuals in production at the time got the -1 designation. The bitch of it is is that the box, manual, and cart are all independent of each other. So, if Nintendo discovered a misprint in the manual, the revision would get the -1 while the box and cart do not. There is no real way of knowing which boxes go with which carts go with which manuals. Except of course for those missing any -# designation.

The best policy is to just not worry about the numbers.

the 3 I have for bases loaded are #1 black logo yellow "Jaleco" #2 White logo, Yellow Jaleco, #3 white logo Blue Jaleco...but all 3 carts are NES-LD-USA and my blue box says LD -1

my batman joker is the same as yours

I have a black instruction book, but not a black cart

my mega man 6 cart, box, and book are all USA-1

Mickeys ID on the box is NES-M8-USA (that is on the upper flap. But on the botom of the box by the UPC code it says Game Pak (NES-GP)

I totally disagree. On several of the games the ID#'s do make a difference for variant collecting. EX. for Super Offroad, there are 2 different 4 player logos, one is -usa, and the other is -usa-1. There are numerous games that are like this, and the -1 usually means that there is a difference in the labals to some degree. From my experience, if there is a box or manual for -1 or -2, there is a game with that same #. The ones listed above are the only ones I have found so far, but I am only about half way done with adding ID# to my list. I will prob. add a few more to the list when I finish up in a day or two. Thanks for the help though guys. If anyone else can help, it would be much appreciated.

If you are into variant hunting, then the #s will help. but there are issues still. As was once illustrated to me by Hydrox, you can never know which game goes with which manual goes with which box. I am currently looking through Game Boy variants, and have seen many examples of this. Tetris has manuals going up to at least -5, where as the cart goes only to -1.

Carts, manuals, and boxes with the -1 designation may never have been released together. the manual and box may have been given the -1 while the cart did not, then all three got revised giving the cart a -1, and the box and manual now have a -2. Unless you got it sealed, there is always the chance that someone put the pieces together to make one complete game.

I can see the attraction of Documenting the #s, but collecting them would be daunting.

I totally agree with you. I am sure there are some manuals and boxes that don't match up to the games, that is why I made this post. 8-) I think most of the games will match up though, only time will tell though.

It would be a daunting task to track them all down, cause then you have to consider color, 5 screw, "TM", "made in Japan", ID and seal variants to. There is no way one person could collect every sinlge variant that is known to exist. I am just doing it for documentation reasons.

I was hoping a few more people would check their collections and post, but I doubt many people have interest in NES variation collecting anyway. x_x

You should talk to Cowering, I think he has around 1000 NES carts with unique label markers. Though he is currently working on his NES site, so they will eventually be up.

I have a ton of variants. I think I started the first variants website about 3 years ago, but I took that down long ago.

I'll send you pics for bases loaded when I get a chance, but it may be awhile.

Sorry, my Dragon Warrior is NES-DG-USA and my Mega Man 6 is NES-G6-USA-1. I can't find a part number on my Batman Return of the Joker. Is it on the top of the label? The copy I have is missing the top part of a the label and a little of the top of the face. It does say REV-A on it where I expect the part number to be.

Just post the pics when you get a chance. Any variant info you can send me or tell me about would be greatly appreciated. I will glady give you credit for whatever you can help with. Once my list is done, it will be available for download on the neswarpzone.com for sure, and prob. a few other sites as well. Thanks
