How do I read my Playstation 2 serial number?

My wife got me a US PS2 during the christmas launch shortage. She paid over $500 w/shipping, Ridge Racer V, a memory card and MAYBE another game or two but RRV is the only one I cared about.
Since I got it at launch, Im wondering what number mine was to roll off the line. Anybody know how to read them?

At least it'll give you a roundabout idea as to WHEN it was made...but good luck on reading the serial more in-depth. ;)

The European Automobile coloured ones have unique serial numbers.

Ie, the red one would read: R (For red I assume) 200xxxx (Where xxxx is the production number I would assume, as these models are limited to only 2000)

Look on the lower left of the back label. You're looking at the barcode number, which isn't the 'true' serial number.
