View Full Version : opinions on wireless NES controllers
I was wondering if anyone had a set of wireless NES controllers from playmessiah.com.
I wanted to know if they are reliable or not, they seem sort of pricey to me.

I had a set of the SNES ones. The Rf signal it uses is awesome, I have no doubt that the wireless capability is exceptional.
However.
I find that the D-pad (A circle, not a cross mind you.) Is way too sensitive to my liking. I could not successfully play through any game that had menus (FF2/3, Earthbound, etc) Also, any diagonal move was near impossible.
Buyer Beware.
anyone know of a company out there that uses actual NES controllers that have the d pad.
I think the ones at playmessiah might drive me crazy as well
Have you tried the NES Satellite?

Also, I am becoming increasingly worried about holding a small microwave emitter in my hand. The same goes for the DS, Wavebird, anything WiFi, etc.

the emissions of micro waves from those devices is so small that...I dont even know what. But I work in the X-ray department at a hospital and too much exposure to radiation can cause cancer, but it would take ALOT of it.
In 100 years people will look back and wonder what the hell we were thinking with all the portable microwave radiators we carry around today.

lol I often worry about that as well, especially with the DS or PSP, I know the long term ramifications can and possibly will be bad, so I try to limit my usage of anything involving microwaves....

In 100 years you won't care what they think. :)

Does the GBASP have a microwave radiator?

I realize that the power of a wifi signal is perhaps a thousandth (or less, I dont know) the power of a microwave, but I will probably hold those controllers 1000 times more ofter than I will cook my hands in a microwave, also.

If I could cook my food with a Wavebird, I'd be worried. As it stands, everyone is on their cell phone 12 hours a day, many people eat garbage, we drink molotov cocktails to get drunk, and we drive to work in our 1 ton gasoline smart bombs every day.
I'm not too worried about a wireless controller.

i wish they make one for DC...
since DC never have the official unit that would be super... :(

GREAT Idea.... a wireless DC controller... I second that dream wish motion!
WOW, what a truly great (no sarcasm here but a true agreement) IDEA!
as to microwaves and emfs and BFDs... BFD... Bird flu is comin... maybe microwaves will terminate the virus!
Wave bird as an anti influenza cure!

**sigh** Your ignorance of basic science and engineering saddens and bewilders me.
This is how microwave ovens work: the microwave transducers of a microwave emit microwaves at the frequency needed to excite water molecules (makes them vibrate). This vibration causes heat. It take a signifcant amount of energy to heat up, say a cup of water and so it's not likely that you'll ever see a portable version of a microwave (the batteries would burn out too quickly).
Keep in mind that the word microwave is a general term. It refers to electromagnetic radiation that has a frequency of 1000 MHz or higher. It is most likely that the microwaves from the Messiah transmitter is a frequency that DOESN'T cause water molecules to vibrate.
Even if the microwave radiation had the right frequency to heat up water, the power from those tiny transmitters is so small it probably couldn't even penetrate the skin on your hand! Even if it could you would never notice it because the heat from the blood coursing through the arteries in your hand is greater then that from the Messiah controllers.
So stop worrying about the controllers "cooking" your hands. Your hands are heating up the controller more than any "cooking" the controller could do.

A microwave works at 2450 MHz, very close to the frequency that various "wireless" devices work at. I realize the power output is very small. Im not afraid of them literally "cooking" my hands, but I do worry about the long term effects of the radiation, which is thought to destroy the structures of some molecules. I prefer not to eat microwaved food, either.
