View Full Version : Attention aspiring journalists: Pursue this idea!

I realize that some of you ARE practicing and/or professional journalists, not just "aspiring"...

Anyway, I wish someone (or a group of people) would take the time to interview a large number of developers from the 8 bit/ early 16 bit era. Before you tell me "it's already been done!", let me elaborate--
I would like to see detailed interviews which dealt exclusively with a specific title or game. In other words, an interview with Miyamoto, dealing entirely with the creation, formation, and execution of the first Zelda game. An interview with the designer of Trojan, or Gladiator, or Bubble Bobble, or whatever, but where the interview is centered entirely around a certain game.

For a simpler explanation, think of the "Developer Diaries", or whatever they're called. I can't remember what they're called, or on which site to find them, but they are a chronology and exposition of the game development process for a certain title. The reason I would like to see this put in a "classics" format is twofold:
1. The "old" era games are classics that were created in a time when we had only magazines to rely on for information. It would be nice to chronicle the development, inspiration, and so forth for those games while we can.

2. Those games were created with MUCH smaller teams, sometimes consisting of only 2-3 people. This would make for a more personal, "interesting"tale of creation, as opposed to reading about team member #43 and his minimal input on the game.

What do you think?

That's a very good idea. I think it's important that we chronicle and preserve that gaming history. It seems as though videogames are a whole different world now; the business side of it certainly is.

On that note, I found a site that had posted an interview with Lx Rudis, who composed a lot of music for the Lynx, including Klax. It was a fairly recent interview, too; I'll try to find it.
