View Full Version : Magnavox vs Activision...why?
I read a little article that Magnavox sued Activision in the early 90s, and won. Activision lost this courtcase, but does anyone know what it was about?
I read the consequences were that Activision (and Infocom) had to be rescued (moneywise) by The Disc Company.
Also, is there any old Activision employee still working for the company, or is the nowadays Activision nothing to do with the old 80s company?

where did you read this article?
You should post this question on http://www.cdinteractive.co.uk/forum, I've heard them talking about Activision in relation with Philips (ie. Magnavox).
Ah, thanks for the link. I do some digging.
I read about it in Strategy Plus early 90s issue.
Strategy Plus is/was a UK magazine, written by experts, covering all games strategy/RPG/flight etc...
I got issues from 1 onwards to 105, with a few missing in between (well, I got 65 issues out of 105).
I remember the ST brothers complaining about the lack of ST reviews, and one year later the Amiga brigade doing the same.
It soon became a UK/USA combined magazine, and then sold to USA (leaving A4 format and taking on the USA paper size format), and even later sold to BPA Int (CDmag).

I think it became Computer Gaming World...
So, it merged with CGW or got swallowed up by CGW?
