What are the more sought after DS games to look for, besides Phoenix Wright? I know Trace memory, Trama Center and lost in Blue are some. Ended up finding multiple Trama Centers at Best Buy and none the others around my mall today.

Other than Nintendogs Best Friends (which I know you can't buy seperately at retail locations), I think you about covered it with the titles you have listed.

Animal Crossing may be considered a "sought after title" as well.

Personally, I've been on the lookout for Elf Bowling. :)

I haven't seen too much of Snowboard Kids DS around, and I'm sure it's still fairly easy to get your hands on but it IS an Atlus title, it might become a bit harder to find down the line.

I wonder how that game is?

It doesn't look to great.

Monster Trucks DS
Elf Bowling 1 & 2

Yet to see either of these in the wild.

Any of the Nintendog titles more often found then the others also?

Purely from a retail grunt's point of view, the Chihuaua (sp?) version seems to be a bit more common than the other two. That may just be a regional observation though and isn't based on any factual information.

I'd like to reiterate Lost in Blue as a title that may become sought after in the near future. The production run seemed to be very low, and even when it was in print, we never seemed to receive new copies in shipment.

Lastly, how about Nanostray? It was tough to find in its first week as it had a slow roll out to retail locations, not to mention it was published by Majesco as the shit was hitting the fan. Add to the fact that it's a shooter (a niche category that seems to attract collectors) and it seems like a recipe for future obscurity.

I've noticed the demand for Nanstray leveling out over what it used to be. Phoenix Wright seems to be the latest "most sought after on ebay" DS game now.

Snowboard Kids DS

I wonder how that game is?

It doesn't look to great.

I bought it after it dropped to $20 a couple weeks ago. It's not bad. I was expecting it to be like SSX but it's basically like Mario Kart DS with snowboards. My main complaint is that it's more of a racer than a freestyle game. Not really a lot of variety in tricks. Still fun though and worth the $20 I think.

Trace Memory hard to find? I see that EVERYWHERE. New and used. Same goes for Nanostray.

Lost In Blue is definitely a tough one to find though. I've only seen that once so far and that was a used copy. Never seen a new copy for sale.

I think the avilablity of those titles depends largely on where you are. Even the biggest city in my province doesn have Nanostray or Trace memory.

As for desired titles i'd recommend Fell the Magic be added to the list.

My local Best Buy had multiple Trama Centers in stock and saw least one copy of it at Sears, Gamestop and EB in my mall.

I've seen a ton of copies of Trace Memory at my local Best Buy. I didn't know that was unusual... I haven't picked up the game.

I've also seen Elf Bowling and Trauma Center, no problem. Trauma Center I bought. Elf Bowling I really have no desire to play, unless someone really thinks it's a great game.

If the Best Buy I work at doesn't have the game, and I can't find a way of ordering it through them, I head over to target and am usually able to get it through a friend over there some how. Thats how i picked up bust-a-move, snowboard kids and monster trucks.

As for phoenix wright, i remember when it launched, I went to like 8 local places, and the only one to even get it was the local EB and Toys r' us, and then only got 4 copies and that was it. Gamestop didn't even get any copies on launch. So i online ordered it and havn't seen it in stores still.

If I were just starting out with the DS, the first games I would get (using collectibility as the deciding factor) are Lost in Blue, Trauma Center, and Phoenix Wright. Nanostray would be the fourth. Maybe Electroplankton as the fifth. After that, all the games worth playing are pretty common where I am.

Oh, and Elf Bowling is nothing but a shameful attempt to steal your money. Worst game of the generation on any system. Only completists need apply.

Would the Metroid: Hunters demo apply to this at all?

I don't collect for DS, but I've seen lots of copies of Lost in Blue and Nanostray in Gamestop. (Actually considered picking both up.) I'm in NYC.

I think this really may be a regional system.

Nah, they sold a few million of those with the demos, they're definitely around.

Well, I just got back from the Toys R Us on Times Square, and checked out their DS stock... they've got at least a dozen copies of most of those games (Snow Board Kids, Lost in Blue, Trauma Center, Trace Memory, Nanostray) but no Phoenix Wright. I think that may be our first real sought-out game.

I was just at Best Buy this weekend and noticed a bunch of Phoenix Wrights. I may go back and scoop a few up if they are priced well. I don't actually have a DS but I was playing my special game where I look at all the available games for a system and then pretend someone told me that I could have my choice of any ten games.

Yes, I am retarded.

:hmm:

How about Puyo Pop Fever [1 of the earlier semi launch titles]? The entire series isn't too popular outside of its homeland, so it's a bit hard to say if it's sequal will actually get a release.

That's Atlus, isn't it? If so, it's probably already incredibly hard to find.

You can pick up Puyo Pop Fever on ebay fairly cheap still. $10-$15 plus shipping.

I just bought Snowboard Kids today at Game Stop, it was $20.

Also, I did a little checking around here in Phoenix, Arizona for Phoenix Wright and it is truly a hard-to-find game. I asked the guy at Game Stop and he looked it up in his computer, it showed discontinued. Get this one if you can!

I actually saw Phoenix Wright brand new in an out of the way Blockbuster the other day. You've just gotta look off the beaten path.

Yeah, shortly after this thread was started every Blockbuster Gamerush near me had two copies. Some I'm sure still do.

Err... shortly after the Phoenix Wright thread was started.

Is it distrubuted through Atlus then? My Puyo Pop Fever has an Atlus logo on the front corner so it must have something to do with the Atlus company.

I've got the Japanese PPF and it's Sega only I think. Atlus are publishing it in the US I believe.

The J PPF, interestingly, has a completely english option [including voiceovers, text, everything]. Which made it very very easy for Atlus to localise, since you really didn't need to do anything.

So I bought a copy of PPF that I thought was used, but it's actually brand new with the price tag still on it. Is it collectible enough not to open, or would it matter? I still see them going for cheap everywhere, but it was made by Atlus. What do you guys think?

if youre really desperate and want to play it so bad go ahead. if you dont really care, just leave it alone.

Well, knowing that it's Atlus, I would assume it has a lower print run. However, I'm wondering if the demand will be enough that anyone ever notices. I'll probably end up opening it here in the next few weeks, but I got a back log of DS games at the moment that i still have to play through.

Yep, I beat the game and was very happy with it. I put it up on ebay and started the auction at 99 cents; it ended at $56.00; they paid right away and I just received great feedback for it. Everyone's happy! :D

Definately keep an eye out for this one. If you can find a Gamestop with it used, the price is $19.99.

I've noticed Bomberman been very hard to find, I grab one as a TRU $10 game, lucky for my buddy since I don't collect DS.

Really? I picked one up at Target when it first came out, and it seems like I've seen copies just about everywhere since.

Bomberman is definitely around. It just dropped out of new circulation fast but you can still pick it up at a Toys 'R Us and such. No one bought it at the time of release because of rumors of a super ultimate definitive Bomberman coming out again for Nintendo WiFi once that got going.

Dragon Buster from Konami may become a little tough to find. Of the DS games Gamestop/EB didn't carry I believe it's the one that got the lowest amount of copies printed.

Lost in Blue I had no idea was supposed to be a hard one. We still have new ones at my Gamestop I think. We definitely have a few used ones that are complete and in new condition.
