I am looking to sell a Nintendo Chair Controller. Let me know if you are interested.

Originally, it was purchased at the San Diego VSDA gaming convention years ago as a prototype.

I don't know a ton about it...it seems to be functional but I don't have an NES. The poles coming up have the A, B, Start, and Select buttons on it...

Here is a picture of it:

Round about how much are you looking for, can you disassemble it to provide easier shipping, and around where are you located? In other words, I'm interested.

It's true! He would have given you more - even though he's a cheap bastard that takes you out on a date to Arby's and then expects anal afterwards. By the way, you still owe me five bucks for gas, you cheap bastard!

That's not all. He also sold a lot of about 30-40 games for $200. In that lot was a caltron 6 in 1 among others. I had a shot at this stuff, but people who lived closer to him than I did, got to it before I could. He was obviously looking to sell quickly and didn't know what his stuff was worth and just wanted to get rid of it.

Can you give us any more information about it? Who made this?

That more looks like someone's home project. I'm no Nintendo expert (not even close) but it doesn't look official to me...

You are right, your not even close. This is official and I have seen one before years ago...

Your first sentence is contradictive, and it is you're, not your. Sorry, but it was bothering the crap out of me.

Anyways, this is a cool ass chair, I'm glad someone bought it for $100.

I have the same chair... but in better condition

It is not a homemade project

The chair in his picture is missing a black leather cover for the seat, the cover has a red leather seam

The chair also comes with a replacable circuit board that will work on the sega genesis

The chair works as the control pad by moving up/down/left/right

The A/B Buttons are on the sticks

Pfff.. I was looking around $500 myself - and I could have had my girlfriend's parents (if you're local to San Diego) pick it up if you didn't want to ship it.

A little background on these chairs - although my mind is fuzzy since it was a long time ago. Somehow I don't think that's a proto but a CES display model from years ago. As D_N_G said, the seat acts as the directional pad, imagine something similar to the ski setup from the Alpine Racer games except sitting down. It was an attempt to bring more motion into video gaming, both for more realisim and also to get players moving and toss some exercise into the mix. In that respect it's very successful.

For a better example, if you're sitting in a rolling chair, plant your feet on the ground and move the chair up/down/left/right as you would if you were using it to operate an NES directional pad. That's the same principle that these game chairs operated on, except you moved yourself via your arms pushing / pulling you holding onto the grips. Again, like Alpine Racer, it's an NES rowing machine chair. LOL When you do think about it though this would give you a hell of an upper body and abs workout if you, say, played Rad Racer for 30 minutes a day with it.

I think they were sold in limited markets (just like the Play At Home Arcade and the Exertainment stuff) but can't confirm this. D_N_G, do you know the name of the company that manufactured them? I remember seeing them at CES and it wasn't a traditional game company, it was like 40 year old men in suits at the show. (think it may have been covered on NextStep.. you know, ZDTV/TechTV before ZDTV/TechTV)

If I'm not mistaken, that's the Simulation 1 Action Chair from Simulator Technology Inc, which was also released for the Sega Genesis. There was one unmounted brand new in box on eBay a few months back, didn't sell for 50 dollars first run, ended up selling for 60-70 dollars when it was relisted. I somehow regret not having picked it up, even though shipping to Europe was killer ;)

Did this one have a data entry in the online rarity guide ?

I know the only enter is the "Hotseat" which I owned for some years before selling it.
