So now that some time has passed since the debut of the Micro - what do you think of it as a playable system? I'm not asking about the potential resale value down the line... I'm especially interested in knowing if anyone has several different GBA versions, and if so does the Micro get used? I have a GBA SP2 and a DS, but I'm thinking about getting a micro just to be able to carry it around in my pocket on the train ride to work :)

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

I played through all of FFIV Advance on mine, but that's only as long as I've had it and it's the only GBA game I've played in any capacity since I got it.

I did stick FFIV into my DS for a little bit to compare, and it's night and day. It's like Super Nintendo in HD, it's absolutely stunning.

But as for practicality... I dunno. I may just continue to play GBA games on my DS because my DS is always around. If you already have an SP2 though with the better screen, I really can't reccomend the Micro unless you wear really, really tight pants.

I love it! It's great. It's got a great picture, and so bright! I can't play on my original SP, it's to dark. I'm telling you, it's definatley worth it.

Compared to the SP2 its not as good imo. Now my wife likes it as its isnt as bright as the SP2 yet the picture though smaller is still very clear.
To be honest though, I would have never bought it if they hadn't made that 20th Aniversary edition.

That's a good point, and I'd probably be in the same boat. I would have at least waited for them to drop considerably in price.

I agree, I wouldn't have bought it either but that famicom US version came out, and I couldn't resist!

I broke down and bought the 20th Aniversary edition too, after two weeks of play, I have to say it's awesome for some games and lame for others. The screen is just too darn dink for some games, but WOW! It's soo nice that it's micro, I can't stand the GBAsp brick wallet in my back pocket.

Sure would've been nice if I could play some of my older GB/GBC games, that's a major letdown.

Overall rating IMO? C+ B- I'd say it'd be a killer buy @ $49.95 or less($90 is really steep).

Since it's release I've bought two, the silver model and the Famicom edition. I own a DS, SP, PSP and GP2X and I'd say my Micro gets the most use of them all. Especially in school. Great system, well worth the investment.

I have had mine since Xmas, and while I havent played anything but FFIV on it, I must say its very impressive. I hated lugging around the DS if I knew I would only be playing a GBA game on it, and this is perfect for just that.

I honestly dont even touch my SP anymore. If you are planning on playing a fighting game on SP I hope you have small hands, I couldnt even throw a fireball to save my life because my hands were so close together and in a weird position. With the Micro my hands are in the PS2 controller position which helps A LOT. I can actually play a fighting game how it was intended.

Yea, I love how open it is :D

The D pad is killer, alot better than the SP smash'd pad :/

If the Micro played all the games like the GBA/SP I'd up my grade to a A, nothings perfect, and no handheld can conform to everyones hand, but for what it is, It's pretty danm cool 8-)

I was all hyped up to buy one, but I waited too long and the store that had them for $88 decided not to restock them!
MSRP in Canada is $129, and I haven't seen tham anywhere else for less than $109.
I just can't bring myself to spend $20 more than I would have paid had I bought it 2 months ago. I just can't.
And now with the DS Lite coming out, I just don't see the point.

At first before it came out, I thought that the screen would be too small. But after it came out and i tried it, I was convinced that i am going to buy one.

I don't own a micro yet, but i am going to buy one.

My digital camera's screen is smaller than the micro's screen, and i have no problems with either screens.

By the way, The pixel count in the SP and micro are the same, or so i heard. But they are closer together with the micro, so it results with sharper, clearer images.

How is the GBA micro screen compared to the DS screen?

How is the GBA micro screen compared to the DS screen?

Smaller, crisper and brighter. But the new DS screens will be on par, if not better, than the Micro screen, and will certainly rival the PSP screen for brightness.

The Micro is still the best Nintendo screen to-date. Until the DS Lite hits the shops.

your kidding right? turn up the brightness on your gba micro (holding up the L button and pressing up on the volume) when its on max makes your games unbeliavably freaking sweet

I think he meant that FFIV looked best on the Micro.

In my opinion I didnt think gba games looked all that great on a ds , just looked kinda like bland in comparison with color to the micro. But I rather not start a long arguement on this.

Ok thanks for the info :)
So you can adjust the brightnes on the micro eh? Might pick one up. Im "afraid" to buy a GBA SP because I'm so used to the first GBA. The SP looks so painful to play with. How is the micro compared to the first GBA? Is it as good to play with or is it more like the SP?

The Micro doesn't cause any problems for me in the hand cramp department, and I have rather large hands. To be fair though, I've never complained about hand cramping on any system ever, so I guess I don't really count.

But now with the DS Lite redesign around the corner, you may want to hold off and see if you just want to pick one of those up instead. Some of the images I've seen are absolutely astonishing... like this one.
