According to C&VG, PAL gamers are to get extra content such as a luxurious cardboard packaging containing four postcards - all featuring "magical moments from the game".

Plus exclusive content in the form of video interviews with Shadow creators Fumito Ueda and Kenji Kaido, detailing the game's conception and development process. Also included is an exclusive image gallery, containing concept art, stills and ICO's game trailer.

Woohoo indeed !! :-P

Would love to see pics of it all if anyone here picks it up.

That was an extremely wonderful game!

And they're re-releasing Ico (haven't played this, yet) on the same day - so chalk me down for both of these come launch!

Like the Japanese version it will also have the dramatic slow motion for the final stab when you kill a colossus.

Was this not present in the US version? If not, why on EARTH would they take something like this out?!

What the hell?

Maybe because a lot of people can't tell the difference between dramatic slow motion and slow down due to having to much on screen. See how many reviewers complaied about the (purposely done, dramatic) slowed down boss explosions in Ikaruga.

What an age we live in!

BTW (and I'll probably say this everytime I see you post), but I remember you! Haha. But enough of that.

I noticed that PAL releases often include fancier packaging and extra stuff compared to the North American releases. I hypothesize that this is to give PAL gamers an incentive to wait the months/years it takes for games to make their way across the ocean instead of importing.

I can't wait for this! The ICO packaging was simply stunning when it came out a few years back.

Don't forget that new games in the US cost $50 while we here in europe have to pay at least €60 for new releases... It's good to see they actually do something with the extra money they charge us :D

So it's basically the same kind of packaging they used in ICO. Cool...

Thanks for the picture. That looks really cool. The art on the postcards is really interesting, if anyone gets this I would love some scans of those, they would make for a good wall painting in the game room I think.

Jeez! This thread sure did die a little prematurely, me thinks. Did anyone actually - you know - buy the game? Personally, I've been sitting on the fence since February (when it was released over here in Europe), but I had been wanting to pick it up from day one. I shamefully confess that I was holding out for a price drop...

But, that price drop didn't come. So, I finally caved in last week and picked up a copy. I got around to booting it up last night, and you can just tell that this is going to be one heck of a ride!

First things first, then: we Europeans, for once, sure did get the right end of the stick. The packaging is simply out of this world, with beautiful artwork all over the shop. It honestly took my breath away. And even those (pretty worthless) art prints are really, really nice. Good job, Sony!

The graphics, too, deserve a special mention. The scale of the world is quite bewildering at times. The use of light is captivating. Heck, I even like the fog (though this was most likely used to assist with the framerate, as much as anything). If I'm nitpicking, though - the textures do look a little washed out (*cough* N64), but perhaps that is by design.

Okay, yes, the framerate does get quite choppy quite often. And, yes, this does make it harder to control the character and go about your business. But for some reason - a reason I can't actually explain - this doesn't bother me. It actually - and don't ask me how - seems to add to the epic feel of the game.

What I do know, though, is that this is probably the only game I have ever played where a poor framerate hasn't lessened my enjoyment. Had it been any other game... I may have already stopped playing.

The music is stunning as well. The orchestral accompaniment played during your encounters with the Colossi is beautiful. After stabbing the first creature in the leg, the beast came crashing down to the ground and the music softened. In that moment, I almost felt bad for what I had done. I have never felt emotion like that while playing a game. The music was instrumental (pardon the pun) in this, I felt.

If I'm being honest, I do find that the camera a little awkward to control. And a lot of the text is too damn hard to read. The font is too curly, and the choice of colour doesn't contrast well against the background. That, and there is next to no spacing between each word. I got the general gist of it all, but it was hard work! These complaints aside, I have fallen head over heels in love with this game!

I can't wait to play some more (hopefully tonight)!
