At first i was in awe at how lazy people can be. But now i can see it does have its uses people who have no use of their legs for example.

However i know alot of lazy bastards will use them aswell.

If I had no use of my legs, I'd be rocking out with Guitar Hero instead of pretending to dance in DDR.

I mean, honestly, rocking out is way better than stepping around/using that little key pad thing.

I gotta say... these DDR games sound fun, but there is no way I'd want to be flying about on a mat like there was no tomorrow. Firstly, I'm really anal about vibrations when my PC is running and secondly, I'm really anal about vibrations when my PC is running.

So yeah, I'd probably buy something like this.

I don't see that this necessarily makes someone lazy. I use the arrow keys on my laptop to play StepMania on a regular basis. It makes for a completely different game, especially for folks like me who will probably never be able to do extremely difficult songs with my feet. More importantly, it's still a lot of fun. Call it what you will, but 'finger dancing' definitely has its place in the world of rhythm games.

Something like this would actually be kind of nice for me. I love DDR, but sprained ankles, torn ligaments, arthritis have made playing the game nigh on impossible for the past year (even Butterfly on easy is too painful). I know I could just use the controller, but it tends to slide around too much if I set it on my desk.

This is the perfect solution until I can get my legs working right again...if that ever happens.

I still got a finger board, and it sux. I don't have a dance mat, I would rather just use a controller.

DDR honestly isn't that bad with the control pad, just really easy.

I'd say EASIER, as I trust a controller over a dance mat/pad any day.

I recently started an exercise regimen consisting only of games like DDR, Eyetoy: Groove, etc. I use DDR Konamix for a 25-min workout. I hold a standard PS controller & stand on a large cardboard mat I got from work & divided into a tic-tac-toe grid like a dance mat. I'm using a controller but follow the movements w/ my feet, so I'm still doing the moves & getting the exercise.

After each workout, my stats say (equivalents) I've jogged over 1 km, jumped rope around 500 times, & swam 1/2 km.

The other day I switched from "basic" to "trick", which doubled my output (& sweat amount!)

They don't work properly, and they break really easily cause I had one, used it once and then it broke after I didn't use it for a while.

There was definitely a similar product released in Japan around 2000. It was similar to a Dual Shock controller, but with DDR arrows replacing some of the buttons. I wish I had picked one up before I left. Looked quite a bit more comfortable than these new ones.

I have one of those things and they're handy for testing out DDR games when there's no room to lay a mat out.

I always looked at these more as something similar to a Super Mario figure or a Sonic the Hedgehog plush - being that they're more along the lines of a toy as opposed to an accessory. We all bought these a couple years back to sit on the shelf as yet another quirky peripheral offshoot from Japan. It's really something to have so you can have it, cheap enough, not really a controller to use.
