I've read rave review, after review after review saying "TIE Fighter" is one of the best -- if not the best -- game ever made.
What do you guys think?

i like the game - but definitely not THE BEST game ever made
not even the best starwars game ever
i enjoyed almost finishing it untill my PC craped out and my tie fighter disk went bad but personaly i would rate wing commander better

One of the best? Without question, yes. As far as just how close it is to the top goes, I can't say for sure. It didn't get my vote in the DP 'best ever' voting, but it definitely came close.

I'd say it's one of the best games ever made. It's certainly my favorite Star Wars game and my favorite in the sci-fi action flight sim genre. The problem with that is that it's not really a genre that everybody just jumps into. I'm pretty sure that I still have the original DOS floppy disc version with the expansion somewhere around my place.

Great , wonderful, exciting game
And I DONT like star wars...that means im not biased
I`d put it in the top 5 pc games ever, along with doom 1, diablo and others!

I agree. I remember Tie Fighter being an X-Wing add-on, but I suppose it could've been A or B-Wing? I'm also not much of a Star Wars 'fan' but those games were awesome back then!
