Just wondering what games everyone loved when they were younger and never saw any ports of it on any system.

Mine is Perfect Billiards (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=P&game_id=8995) not even on MAME.

Willow by Capcom. I remember being quite excited when I heard people saying it was on the preview video for Capcom Classics Collection Remixed. My dream was crushed when I saw the list of games on the back of the display box. :(

There were a few other Sega Model 3 and Naomi games I liked that never got ports - The Lost World, Emergency Call Ambulance, Jambo Safari

The Simpsons arcade game is the only game I've played in an arcade that wasn't ported to a console. But even if there was something else, I would have mentioned it anyways.

Zookeeper, although I doubt that any of the consoles of the time could have done it justice with all of the moving animals. Even the arcade game slows down badly in the higher levels.

Incidentally a friend of mine can break a million in that game on my MAME machine, and it's quite a sight!

Another vote for both Emergency Call Ambulance and Scud Race. I threw a stupid amount of money at those games in the arcades and I can't wait until they're fully playable (at full speed!) in an emulator (for me!). Scud Race runs in MAME right now IIRC, but you need a tank of a machine to run it :(

Rave Racer was a blast to play, too. A year or two ago I found a machine in pretty good condition in Bangkok that only cost 5baht per play (~25 cents) and spent a few hours on it. Thank god for Vivanono.

I loved The Outfoxies (also from Namco!) as well. Thank god that finally got emulated a few years ago in MAME. The sound recently got emulated, too. Yay!

definitely Mat Mania.

Never released on any system in America, but it got ported onto X68000 as one of the Anthology packs, as well as seperately I believe. It went by it's original name, Exciting Hour.

That's about the only one I can remember, that and WWF Superstars. Early '90s goodness with Mr. Perfect and the Million Dollar Man. Yes, even when I was 10, I liked the bad guys.

Oooold. Consider it extra reading. ;)

My pick still applies. It wasn't one of my favorites but I really enjoyed what little I did get to play of it. Funny to see Black Tiger come up again. I did love that game and can't wait to play it again.

Though, I don't think there's one arcade perfect port of any of theim on a home console.

Wow I hadn't thought about Willow for years. I remember renting the NES version at some point and being very disappointed.

One of my favorite arcade games was called Pig Out. Hardly anyone seems to remeber it at all, and it was never ported as far as I am aware.

Space Firebird, maaan.

I played that sucker tons back in the day.

I'd love to see it ported to any system, but it'd look best on Colecovision or later.

And Space Fury. Yeah, yeah, it was ported to the CV, but I want a vector version.

You know. On theSuper Vectrex Color(tm)

Konami's Aliens, G.I. Joe, Mystic Warriors, Xexex...they got screwed over with licensing issues on the first two, I think. Last two...don't know why they weren't ported, actually.

what ever happened to the PS2 port of Xexex? I was really looking forward to that one finally getting a home release. May as well add the japanese version of Thunder Cross to the list of Konami games that should have gotten a home port...i don't care much for most of their shmups, but the Japanese version of Thunder Cross was quite tits.

Agreed, should have a freaking DS release.

Daytona USA 2

Daaahh... :puke: I never did like Daytona USA 2 as much as the other games in the series, even the Battle On The Edge version that brought the Hornet back.

Damn good game and sticking with Leland's other releases, three player! Great graphics and sound as well.

I'll add to my list Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the NES release(s) were nothing like the arcade game - as I document in my latest article at RTM. :D

So that's...

I never played many arcade games back in their heyday, but the one I did love the most was Konami's The Simpsons Arcade Game. Luckily a local automall has a small arcade room in it with this very game. I spent $1 on it today after working out at my gym which is also located inside this auto mall. The control stick pannel is quite worn (Player 4 aka Lisa is completely torn off on the right side) but everything esle is great. All the joysticks and buttons are responsive. The only problem is that I can't seem to continue... It registers with the theme music when I put a quarter in to continue, but it wont let me, frickin quarter eater! I guess I'll just have to practice 1CC'ing it...

And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time was released in the third new TMNT beat-em-up as a bonus. If you ask me they should have just released the arcade ports instead of the crappy games you have to buy to get them.

Jambo Safari

It was great fun and different. I believe its a Naomi based game so a Dreamcast conversion should've been easy. Though it was great fun in the big cab.

Top Skater was a fun game also but like those Namco Alpine Skiier games would be pretty pointless without the dedicated machine

I don't think I've ever seen any port of "Peter Packrat," either.

No one will really know my picks. It wasn't the greatest game but I have a nostalgic thing for Marine Date.

It was never ported and it's not even playable in Mame. But even if it was it wouldn't really be all that playable as it's a trackball "spin chances" game. i.e. you better spin the trackball right and you get 3 or 4 chances to do so or it's game over. Anyway.. that's one. :)

There was a C64 port of Power Drift. I actually booted it up not that long ago. It's pretty terrible as you can imagine compared to the arcade game.
