This new device is connected to the 360 via the USB connection, same as any other portable PC hard drives or USB drives would be, and it does not offer the same range of options as the official HDD does (no game saves, no going online, only media files transfer). It also offers only 4GB of space, same as the very popular HDD that these guys just outted for the PSP.
Price point is expected to be above the 100 US$ mark and Datel plans to launch before the end of February.
So the question is, who would buy this?
Wow. $100 official HD that can do everything you could ever ask for....or a $100 4GB drive that can't do anything but store media. I think that is pretty obvious. Those things are impressively small though but not worth a dime.

360 will work with any old plug and play external Hard Drive.
You can find much better deals than that. For a little over $100 you can high quality HDD with way more storage.

They will sell 8 of them in the US. 6 of them will be returned and it will become the most valuable 360 item every collector is looking for.

Datel? Wow, that name struck a fatal chord with me. I hate the crap they put out. While I would like to watch media files on my 360, I still wouldn't shell out the money for this, not worth it. Not even if I got a discount on it. I would love if my 360 worked as well as my modded xbox with media center did. Too bad you need a media center pc for it to do shit. Kinda redundant there fellas!

Ye, that might be. But When you can get a 20gb drive for the same price or cheaper.. I hope the japanese are stupid to waste money (imo) like this hehe :P

I was thinking of the Xbox360 official external HDD :)

WHile i do think this will be a crap product i must say it is unfair to compare it to the 360's 20GB HDD because the devices aren't in the same class. THe proper comparision would be with the 64 MB memory card.
64MB = $39.99
4GB = $99.99
It doesn't seem so bad there now does it?

You can't save your game data to the 4GB Datel HD. Basically, it's a standard USB Hard Drive rebranded as "omg wtf Xbox 360 compatible!!!1"
If you really want some extra storage space, just grab a 160 GB hard drive + an external HD enclosure. Voila. $120 and 40 times as much space.

I'm not sure why they are marketing this for 360. If you look at it on the same plane as those flash drives, this is an EXCELLENT deal. Yeah, the 20gig is $100. So, I really dont see this as a 360 product, more like a PC product.
