I haven't played Diablo II on Battlenet in years but still play it in single player mode whenever the mood strikes me. I've probably beaten the game 30 or more times over the years (as I did with Diablo before it).

So just downloaded and installed it. Patch didn't work at first, and it kept asking for the disc. So I read the read-me, and it said I needed to add the Diablo II Expansion Music from the LOD disc. So after I dragged and dropped this file to my computer's Diablo II folder- it worked like a charm.

Reviving this once again!

So I've finally been able to play Diablo II as much as I'd like to. After late nights with friends, I've been able to play this. Here are my characters.

HolyTiggles (Level 84 Paladin)

This is a Hammerdin, and I made him primarily for magic finding. I have Full Griswold's, and the Helm and Armor are socketed with Perfect Topazes so I can get better items. It was tough getting that whole set, so I had to do a lot of trading on diiforums. Great character, and I'm looking for more items for better cast rate, such as Arachnid's Mesh.

TiggleMeElmo (Level 62 Amazon)

This is a Javazon that uses Charged Strike/Lightning Strike/Lightning Fury. However, the main problem is that I just entered Hell, and there's a ton of enemies who are Lightning resistant. It sucks. If anyone has like a Fire/Blizzard Sorceress or any other character who could help me beat Hell, I'd appreciate it. It's real difficult, and I don't have Griffon's Eye to lower enemy resistance. Hell, a Necromancer with Lower Resist would be amazing.

TenaciousTiggle (Level 47 Assassin)

I have two other friends who I'm going through the game with. One is a hybrid Lightning/Ice Sorceress, and the other is a Bone Necromancer. All the characters mesh pretty well. I love using her, especially since I'm equipped with two Bartucs.

The rest of my characters are characters in the works and mules. I'm definitely going to start my Summoner Necro soon, though. I always have one whenever I play the game, so I gotta keep that tradition.

I'm on E/SC/L. My account name is *Assballs

Seriously, I play a lot. Add me to your friends list and message me.

P.S. Diablo III will be sweet.

I just started playing Diablo II again... It's been a while since I last had a gaming session that lasted several hours. Yet, Diablo II/LoD isn't flawless. The fact that your character leaves behind equipped weapon(s) and armor where he dies and that you lose all the gold (except whatever you stashed away in your personal stash in the town) is kinda annoying. I also wish there were more slots for the stash, as it fills so quickly that I'm always switching between my character's current location and the town. This said, it still remains a great game. The only element that I find truly dated in the game is the map system.

I play only offline (I'm really not an online gamer) and my character is a Barbarian. I started off playing the Act I quests out of order, so by the time I returned to do the second quest, my character was boosted enough that I had no problem finishing it. :P

*edit* Actually, I just discovered a way to not have to retrieve your character's body where he died: when you get the "You're dead" screen, save and quit the game, then reload the game. The character's corpse will be in the town.

I recently obtained a couple of loose CD keys at the flea market, so I registered them with Blizzard and downloaded Diablo II and the expansion.

I play a Paladin called, oddly enough, Foxhack. I don't get the whole hype over this game. It's entertaining, but... eh. I dunno. I just can't see why everyone goes crazy over it.

I still log on once a month to play my characters for 5 minutes to make sure they don't get deleted.

Today I actually created an Assasin... never tried one before. Already up to level 10 haha

I play east coast / hardcore / ladder. Not sure what my account name is... if it's my logon then it's aaron71.

If anyone wants to try some PvP... I have a lvl 81 Necro with one hell of a mean bone spear ;)

Wait until you start checking out runewords, gear... and especially if you play online... that's where it gets addicting.

I picked it back up after the D3 announcement... already got a 84 sorc, but starting over another meteorb sorc and also a Kick/Trap assassin for doing the new Uber Tristram quest... just unlocking it is insane I can't wait to try.

WHEW! Had a scare today. Logged into my DII account just to log into my characters to reset the expire date... and my 81 Necro said EXPIRED!!!! AHHHHHH

Weird thing is, I was able to log into him, play for a few minutes, log out... and he's no longer expired. Maybe the expiration date was today?? How weird is that?

Anyways. Still don't play really, just keeping my characters.

Current roster:

US East Hardcore

81 Necro, non ladder
53 Sin, ladder
3x Barb, ladder

My characters are probably expired. I made an oath though not to get into Diablo until the third one comes out, which isn't for awhile. It really did consume a lot of my time o_O

AHH! So my brother bought his own copy of the game, so of course, I agreed that I'd be willing to go from Normal-Hell with him. So much for not playing this until DIII comes out.

First things first. Has anyone ever tried having 2 computers in the same house go onto Battle.net? Him and I were going through the Blood Moor, but as a couple minutes would pass by, he would eventually drop. I didn't understand why. Our internet connection is actually pretty strong, and it was only him that was dropping. Him and I were thinking that his labtop can't handle it because it's got a ton of stuff on it, such as numerous emulators and ROMS and a huge music library.

Yah me and both my brothers play on Battlenet all the time. We started playing again a week ago in normal mode to push my brother's friend thru so he can play hardcore with us!

Anyone here ever download some of the mods?

I don't have any experience with them, and was wanting some opinions. I am currently downloading something called Median.

Are there any reason not to download mods?

Well, judging from the lack of response, I guess no one downloads the mods here. Well, in case anyone here wants to get some new milage out of Diablo II, I'll share my thoughts on Median XL.

I have an older Mac so my PC gaming options are somewhat limited. But thankfully Median XL is also Mac compatible. One major difference is that it gives you the Horadric Cube from the get go, so you can combine jewels and store extra inventory immediately. It makes looting much less time consuming. Also if I'm not mistaken you get more space in your inventory and cube, so you can carry more items. Even with this early advantage, I don't notice the game much less easier than regular old Diablo II. Also there are quite a few more gems, weapons, and armor than before. Brand new enemies, skills, magic, and new Uber challenge areas also make gameplay refreshing. Be warned though, DO NOT venture into any of the areas marked Uber Challenge when you play through the 1st time. You will be killed immediately. Even at a level 32 Barbarian I'm no match. They are for high level players only. I also think the level cap is 120 now.

Anyway, this morning I reached the 3rd act and I recommend this enhancement to anyone waiting for Diablo III or wanting any additional life from Diablo III.

Also of note, and unfortunately being a Mac user I can't take advantage of it, there is a Windows only High Res feature that makes playing this game on newer 16:9 monitors more enjoyable.

Here is the official Median XL forum and home page. (http://modsbylaz.hugelaser.com/)

Here is another page with description and download links to other mods. (http://www.moddb.com/features/diablo-2-mod-roundup)

Here is a page that links to the High Res mode download for windows. (http://www.moddb.com/games/diablo-2)

Also, to those on Battle.net, a lot of these mods won't work there. Although I do think you can play via TCP/IP if your friends also have a copy of the mod.

So I just thought I'd give everyone a heads up. I'm still new to this, so make sure you read up on the mods and compatibility before you install. I'm also pretty sure that you need the Lord of Destruction Expansion for a lot of these. I'm sure there are a lot of mods out there, but these are what I've found so far.
