Well for questions 1 and 3 it hard to say. The collecting world has been turned upside down since these reprints started showing up. To put value on what use to be rare game's psx cd's is very hard now some people (collectors)in the know are just sitting and digesting this new issue.

I'm am truly starting to think that there may never be a rare game cd ever again.

Rare PlayStation games, maybe. Saturn, Jaguar, 3DO...

There's always going to be rare game cds because the demand for some games will never be great enough to warrant additional print runs. Some games just flat out suck and it's doubtful that the supply will ever be less than the demand from the hardcore collectors (people that insist on having every game released in a region).

1.) What is the rarest PSX game? What's it's going rate?

As far as "game", hard to say. It might actually not so much be a game, but a game variant. Right now a disc variant for Alundra 1, a case variant for Mortal Kombat 3, and a free promo disc are the current things I'm trying to track down.

2.) What was the last PSX game released? (if applicable)

Reprints not allowed, be it GH or otherwise, Fifa 2005 was the final PS1 game.

3.) How much would a sealed copy of Rising Zan fetch?
If you bellieve eBay, $4.95 or less before shipping.

4.) Why am I asking YOU all these quetions?!?! ()

Because you didn't know my e-mail? :)

Last game?
They still keep coming...

Schnappi Das kleine Krokodil was released in Germany in 2005 (SLES-04177)

I think there is a Robin Hood game coming as well? (I gotta check the stores.....)

What is the case variant for Mortal Kombat 3? I have the original longbox version. I don't think it came in a small case anyway, but I'd be glad to know if mine was the original or the variant. Thanks!

As far as rarest game, I've been working in a game store for several years and been going around collecting for just as long and there are just a couple that I have never seen in the wild. Not including Lightspan games or NBA 2ball the only ones I could never find were Fox Hunt (bought it on EBay), Psychic Force and Psychic Detective. X-Com was on my list too until a couple weeks ago I stumbled upon one at an EB store for like $6 I think.

But then again thats just my experience, nothing scientific.

Tossing in my centavos to the fray

1. Rarest individual games arn't actually the games that pull in the money. If I told you Easter Bunny's Big Day you'd laugh and spend like the 5-15 it'll run you, and scoff at the $160 Suikoden 2 and the other big money/demand games would run you. Otherwise DB's right on the money, some of these things (the Alundra Disc art in particular) has been a almost 3 year excursion, not to mention the Syphon Filter 3 alternate art thats elluded me since I saw it once about 3 years ago.

2. Last official *NEW* release for the US was Fifa 05. Last Official release at all was a GH version of DDR: Konamix that sneaked out just after the start of 05, not to mention the few games that have gotten the reprint treatment thanks to GDC recently, but those have all fallen in the last few months.

3. Again agreeing with Dangerboy, just a few bucks.

4. Because your not in the know and since some of us are, you ask.

@ 8-bitNesMan. There is an actual small Jewel case release. DB's remembered seeing it once before he was finally able to stumble into the manual missing copy that he currently has. Yours is the regular one.

Fox Hunt sucks major balls!

Fox Hunt was one of the funniest, most misunderstood games ever.

What is the case variant for Mortal Kombat 3?

Long box was the original. It was released in a regular jewel case variant. I have the front half, I need a back a half.

I think I have seen the jewel case MK3 once (didnt realize it was as rare as it sounds like it is). As far as Fox Hunt, I need to play through some more, I played it for a bit awhile back until I fell out a window when I was trying to escape somewhere and died, that was pretty funny.

You just can't go flat out make a comment like "___ is the rarest PS game". The rarest, by definition, will be something that was a small time release, probably very terrible in all aspects, and almost nobody remembers, hence has fallen into obscurity.

I think it's perfectly fair to say "X" is the rarest game. It's simple, the game with the smallest printing is the rarest.

However, as we all know rarity is not value. That's why FFVII still fetches $15+ while Lightspan discs gan be had for <$10.

Except we aren't privy to those numbers

Actually, sales data for PSX games was floating around for a while. The problem is that there are a couple dozen titles with sellthrough under 7500, and the data isn't accurate enough to use that as a guide.

Aside from variants, LS and demos, I still think Easter Bunny's is the rarest. I can't think of a single regular PSX release, Rumbo a la Copa Mundial included, that I haven't come across in the last couple years in the wild though.

Go to the Classic Discussions thread where we discussed rare PSX in depth for more discussion on this topic.
