Cool article! very nice and dinamic. A good compilation of Space invaders games, i think there are a lot more, but here are the "basic" ones. Nice reading. Thanks for the link.

It would have been nice to know which systems the later games are for (Space Invaders DX is for Game Boy Color, IIRC).

Nice. I realize he says it's just a recreational overview, but I was hoping it would have detailed the variations of the upright mirrored cabinets. And in particular, the backgrounds. Like it's common knowledge that although the Taito Cabinet and Midway cabinet had "moon" backgrounds, they differed quite a bit and were obviously done by different artists... with the Midway artwork being arguably inferior.
Also for Space Invaders Part II. The Taito had a Blue Moon with a bright red background. Wheras the Midway version had a greenish moon with a much darker background. Stuff like that :)

Hmm, it didn't mention that Space Invaders '95 had the alternate title of Akkanvader. Rather important mention, I think, given that (I think) it's a reference to another series!
That Space Invaders '04 screenshot's a bit small looking, too :P
Good read anyhow. I'd never seen the 1985 game before, actually :)

Probably because that would be a pretty big task beyond just doing the arcade games.

They left out a bunch of console/handheld versions, but it's cool to see some arcade versions that I never knew existed.
I'd like to know what platforms each can be found on too.

I strongly recommend anybody with a decent MAME set-up to go and check out Return of the Invaders. The music alone in that game...lemme tell ya..."Return" = classic arcade Crack.

FYI: Space Invaders, Space Invaders Part II, and Return of the Invaders are all included on the excellent Taito Legends (http://www.taitolegends.com/), available for Xbox, Playstation 2, and PC.
