I "found" a gem of an auction on eBay, but the seller has a total of 1 feedback, and that is a purchase, not a sale. The auction looks like it would be legit, but something tells me not to drop any serious coin on this 1-feedback seller. What are the options out there for buying protection?
I heard something about paypal protection, but this auction doesn't offer it. (something about you can pay extra $ for paypal "insurance" when you pay). I would totally go for this, and not worry too much about it, but as I said I dont beleive it's an option for this sale.
I've heard of this 3rd party escrow deal, but I would rather not get into that. Are there any types of online "insurance" services on a per auction basis? Probably not, or it would more than likely never get off the ground... Oh well, just wondering...
Edit ----
My "Gem" of an auction had 5 page views the first 5 days, but now has gotten 4 more in the last 2 hours... lol LOL

Item is used, but in great shape, no damage,
File an "item not as described" with paypal. If not paypal, then ebay.
File a Dispute with your credit card.

False. Paypal will cover you w/o any extra fees.
You can report the seller to ebay if he told you that.

Actually I myself remember seeing some auctions that offered some sort of buyer's protection insurance for an extra fee. I can't find one to link to though. I don't know what the qualifications were.

I don't think it was just for auctions. I bought Metroid Fusion from Ghouls N Ghosts down here, and when I paid him, I got an option for insurance of some sort, which cost around $1.80.

Oh, I didnt win it, I emailed him and asked him if that was the actual picture before bidding on it, and of course he said "no". Sorry, that was kind of misleading

Sorry Kevin but thats false. Paypal does offer a buyer protection type of insurance, when you are paying for your item through Paypal, it has a little check box if you want it. Usually it's a very small fee. But what it basically does is if there is a dispute opened you automattically get your money back. I have used it before.
Also so was he really selling a competition catr or just a regular donkey kong?
