Why does everyone think it's "me bouncy!"?

Just got KOF 95 for my Neo Geo, been playing it all week of course. I've been using Mai Shiranui a lot, she actually has some damn good offensive power. It's made me bust out my Fatal Fury Special cart, a lot of her combos and whatnot work on both games. So, I've been lurking around the world wide whoopteydo trying to find some good strategies/combos/whatever on Mai, and for the most part all I find is "Huhuhuhh, b00bi3z" type stuff rather than any useful information. And all the people who write these FAQs are actually listing "me bouncy!" as a win quote. She's saying "NIPPON ICHI" , dammit! It means "Best in Japan" or Japan's number one" or something like that. I know the "me bouncy" thing is sort of a joke that won't go away, but it's--DAMN, why am I up way past my bed time posting crap like this?! x_x

I've always taken the "me bouncy" thing to be a joke and not an actual win phrase.


But some of those other win phrases from other various SNK characters...thems some funny shit.

i only new of the members signature that has a pic of a large mamoried japanese woman with the me bouncy words in it -- i didnt realise it was part of a wide spread joke

oh yes - and i also never thought she said me bouncy -- and now, every time i play a game with her in it - that darned phrase is gonna be in my head!!!

It's just a running joke. Just like how a friend of mine and I keep going "Oohh, that was scarry[sic]!" at various things, in honor of Cham Cham.

Mai's 'Me Bouncy" is just like MK's Raiden's "My mother's in LA!" (he really just screams gibberish).

It also doesn't help Mai's case that the animation that follows it has her....um....attributes bouncing a little. :)

While its pathetic that FAQ writers would actually believe that's the intended line, I have to admit this is the first time I've ever known what the hell she's saying. Her voice is so damn high-pitched and squeaky that I can barely understand any of her annoying lines. I just wish she would shut up. o_O And stick with the Fatal Fury look rather than the slutty look she has in KOF for that matter...

I can't see that... it doesn't sound anything like "me bouncy" to me- it sounds a lot more like "me pointy" as Smurfette pointed out.

Are you talking about the Neo Geo version of FFS, or one of the ports?
