I did a search and couldn't find a thread on this. And it most definitely deserves one, one way or another.

Who else is a fan of this game? It was introduced to me by a friend who had it on an emulator. I've been hooked ever since, and in that time I've been completely unable to find an actual copy of it. But I digress...I think this game was really ahead of its time - destructible environments, a vast array of machines and levels, and a timeless multiplayer aspect.

Multiplayer is cool, playing buddies online with emulator drove me to pick it up.

Best mech game for SNES!

Comedy gold extreme.

For the longest time I thought that it was part of the Leynos/Valken series until a few months ago when someone actually interviewed the project lead or some such to ask about the game.

Great game, and seeing the silly ass prices for it on ebay makes me want to run out and pick up a cart locally post-haste while i still can.

definitely does well on ebay - I saw a cart only go for $50 or so the other day. That had to be high though as I've seen completes in the mid fifties - not that I've been watching it much. Market for this game definitely seems strong though - seems to go for almost ff2/3/secret of mana money.

Anyone got a crappy manual, it'll complete mine 8-)

I didn't know it was worth that much. I had a complete in box copy a few years back. Ah well...

Anyway. If you're a fan of it. You should check out Front Mission 2: Gun Hazzard on an emu, the ROM has been fan translated. It's a great game. Metal Warriors is almost a direct clone of it, but FM 2 is the better game.

COOL, I didn't know that it had become so sought after. Had it since back in the day. All mint, but no box. Hope the demand for all my other games keeps increasing as well.

Wow. I know I passed on this game cheap a few times, too. Suddenly regretting it. :embarrassed:

But, yeah. Very fun game.

I do believe there's some story connection between it, and Assault Suits Valken [AKA Cybernator].

You mighe be surprised, but I ran across another auction today that used the same wording. I'm pretty sure it was a different seller, at that.

Anyhow, I looked into this game recently. Edit: Oops, this text refers to Namco's Metal Marines. The interface turned me right off (the interface having been further abstracted through less-than-optimal keyboard input schemes didn't help either). I dunno, "strategy" games really aren't my bag - unless they're multiplayer, or Fallout (which really isn't that far removed from so-called "strategy" games anyway).

There is a PC version of the game out there somewhere, so if you're having trouble finding the SNES copy you might be well served to try and find that port.

I think you are talking about a very diffrent game here.. this one is a shoot em up side scroller.

Oops, thanks for catching that. The game I was thinking of is Metal Marines.

Anyhow, this game seems pretty good. Not sure if it's quite up to the standards of Cybernator (i.e. the Assault Suits games) or Front Mission GH, but it looks pretty good.

It seems astonishingly similar to Cybernator...which was published by Konami here in the U.S., as well, but this game has a Lucasarts license. What in blazes is going on here?

Hehe, well Metal Warriors is Cybernator's sequel basically.

I mean why is it that Cybernator suddenly gets a sequel from Konami, while the original game's - Cybernator's - developers are off making more games in the Assault Suits series. See what I'm getting at?

SWEET! So there's a GBA version being worked on, huh? I wonder what it's gonna be called? I wish he would've said.

It was to Cybernator as Burning Road was to Ridge Racer or Daytona USA :P

There was a sequel to Cybernator on Playstation, but it was an SRPG and not very import friendly :( Also, you might want to check out the translated japanese version of Assault Suits Valken sometime for the neat little stuff that got cut out of the US version of Cybernator. :)

There's also a AS Leynos/Target Earth 2 on Saturn

Valken had also been rereleased for Japanese PS1, PS2 and Korean PS2.

Oh, I missed that the first time around! I think that explains it better, and is pretty much what I had thought was the case. Cool info :)

Everyone should try the unediting ASV. Lots of interesting little tidbits of story are missing in Cybernator, plus a very very important sort of sequence.
