...that I, rather humorously, taunted for being Xbox fanboys and sitting in the rain for what I considered to be a lame system.

Well, I was wrong. On a whim I bought one and all I can say is WOW. The games themselves aren't super next-gen (yet) but the EXPERIENCE cetainly is.

The Xbox guide, the voice messages, the arcade, the streaming music, photos, god damn. Amazing system. Worth every penny.

I am man enough to admit that I was wrong about this one.

welcome to the GREAT experience that is XBOX LIVE 360, they out did themselves on this, now if they could just get more xbox games playable on the backwards compatability list... that would be soooooooo sweeet.

That is one serious disappointment to me. The backwards compatabilty list is NOT up to par. I want to play Shenmue 2 dammit!

I can agree with that not being able to play some of my favourite xbox games on my 360 is realy my only gripe with it.

i dont care so much about the backwards compatibility....i know they are working on it and hope to have more games working......my one problem is no form of save transfer.....if i have a 1/2 beaten game on the xbox i dont want to start from square 1 on the 360.....this is the case for my need for speed most wanted black edition....i got very far (like four or five guys to go) and then got a 360 and havent played it since....

Personally the Xbox 360 isn't really worth the money without Xbox Live. I wish Microsoft would cater both the online and offline crowds, but they keep pushing this online is the future buisness they tend to over shadow everyone else.

I think that will change up a bit with so many devs behind the system compared to the original Xbox. Can't wait for Blue Dragon!

Aren't the games kind of the whole point?

Exactly what I was going to say.
I couldn't care less about an interface that I see for 5 seconds between games.
Streaming music and photos and all that crap are just extraneous and unnecessary.
My computer already does all of that, and it does it better.

See, you've obviously never spent time with it. You'll spend hours in that interface, looking for friends, private chat, playing custom soundtracks, checking out achievements, looking for games, and even seeing what you're friends are doing/have done. It's an incredible step up, especially since you have easy access to it from the controller.

Nah, I use my consoles for playing games, and that's it.
My nephew spends a lot of time on Live, and most of it is spent just talking or looking through menus and shit.
I find all that just boring and stupid.
There's no way I'd want to have a console that actually takes away from my gaming time.

Isn't that kind of like only wanting a "no frills" car that gets you from point A to point B? The experience is enhanced by getting a car with power seats, air conditioning, music player, nice rims, etc. Sure, they aren't needed, but I'd rather drive a Corvette than an Escort.

Nothing takes away from gaming. If there is a game in the system when you turn it on, it goes straight into the game. It is a game system, but all of those extra features really complete the package.

I honestly didn't give two shits about them until I picked up the system and I spent a ton of time getting it all set up how I wanted it, and I've spent plenty of time in private chats while talking to people playing different games, listening to streaming music through my surround sound... but the real killer is Xbox Live Silver. I'm not much for playing online (it's always such a hassle to schedule times to play games), but everything else Live offers is amazing.

I'll surely be disappointed if the PS3 doesn't have a service up to par with this.

I wasn't aware you could do voice chat with silver. That's actually very cool.

I would say it's more like not wanting a car that has a barbeque, a treadmill, a hottub, a lawnmower, and miniature golf course crammed into it.

Not if it costs twice as much.

I still say screw the guys in the front of Best Buy. They get paid for trying to assume whether I'm going to purchase anything or not.

LOL That's the ONLY reason I bought the first XBox, I like the cheesy English VO in the Shenmue games.

Amen. Having a slick interface is nice for use as AN INTERFACE, not something that overpowers the games being played. Why people buy games, get online with them, and then do very little actual playing in comparison to other crap is beyond me. I remember back during the days of the SegaNet sitting in the "SegaNet - San Fancisco" Daytona USA lobby going "let's RACE" because there were like 30 people in there using the game as a slow chat client - WTF. Of course eventually a few of us settled into our own little group for you know, playing the game.

I love xbox 360, the achievements are so addictive, and the arcade is way too awsome. Im addicted. *points to gamerscore* and I have only had the system since dec 17th.
