I'm working on a project and really need some input. In your opinion, which of the following is the most aesthetically pleasing and flows the best? Which would you consider to be most likely an authentic Nintendo logo?

#1 for me
#4 seems to have a DP feel to it though

Toss up between 1 and 4. I give the edge to #4 because the Museum design that hangs down draws my attention more than it being crammed into the Nintendo logo.

I'd have to say number one, but why on earth aren't you just using a nintendo font? Why use 2 different fonts?

My vote is for #3.

I've tried it with the Nintendo font but I didn't think it looked all that great. Here's a couple using the Nintendo font, these look any better?

none of them really do it for me.....in 5&6 you said you used nintendo font, but it still doesnt look like it....4 is too DP, 2 and 3 arent good, and 1 that everyone seems to like is personally the worst one to me.....if i really had to choose between one of those 6, i would pick #5

I would pick 6 if the word museum wasn't in all caps.

The edges on the bottom text are all different...would look tidier if the tops and bottoms went straight across.
For my part, 1 and 3 look really good. Hmm, 3 is great but seems dated somehow...I'll go with 1.
Great logos, you definitely know what you're doing!

Well, none of these logos are really doing anything for me.
#1 really is out as it looks too cramped.
#2,4,& 6 i like the layout, but the other font is wrong on all of them.
I'd suggest a another playful font or perhaps something similar to what was used in a SMB game (not necessarily the first game). But definatly go with something "playful", using that Nintendo font for "museum" makes it seem more serious that it needs to be.
Games are fun, present it as such.

in 5&6 you said you used nintendo font, but it still doesnt look like it.
The font is called "Pretendo" and can be found on quite a few font sites. #5 and #6 is using all Pretendo fonts.
I would pick 6 if the word museum wasn't in all caps.
I tried it without all caps and it just didn't look uniform (even). I'd post a sample pic but I ditched it.
The edges on the bottom text are all different...would look tidier if the tops and bottoms went straight across.
I agree, unfortunatly that's because of the font. I suppose I could manually straighten them up. Wouldn't be too much extra work. I'll consider that.
But definatly go with something "playful",
I definitely agree! That's the reason I chose a different font other than the Pretendo font to use for the word "Museum". Maybe I'll do some more font hunting and see what I can find that would look good. Any font suggestions? Everytime I go to the font sites to look for new and exciting fonts, I spend hours combing through them all. :)

Actually, I have to say that the S (but other letters as well) look odd in there. Is that really a Nintendo font? It seems to lean back and forth.

Well, it's the same font used to spell the word "Nintendo" that's right above it. I know, it looks like a completly different font in all caps. Like I mentioned earlier, the font is called "Pretendo". I don't know who made it, but when you use that font to spell the word "Nintendo", I think it looks pretty authentic.
Aside from the word "Nintendo" does anyone know anyplace else Nintendo used that font? I would imagine that the creator of the Pretendo font had to "guess" on a lot of those letters when he was creating the whole alphabet to look like that. I know it's not perfect, but it's the closest font that I know of that mimics the font Ninteno used in their logo.

Looks like the Nintendo font to me. The lower case u is the same as an upside down n. The capital M uses the same width and angle slope as the capital N. The only thing is when writing in all caps the letters either are not all on the same level or the glow's simply not all on the same level giving the letters a sort of uneven look.

In my experience, turning a u upside down for an n doesn't usually work out well.
And now that I looked at #5 closely, the s actually looks to be a placeholder from another font (I've run into that problem when using fonts before). It's a totally different width and doesn't fit at all. The e next to it looks too short compared with the "u" (which also is "fake"), even though it's correct.
I think the top of the letter "u" should be brought down to be even with the top of the left stem (the furthest left line at the start) of the m.
The spacing between letters in "Nintendo" itself is off, as well. Needs more space.

The Pretendo font isn't all that great in many applications, look at what a Y looks like for example. It all depends on what you're using it for and "Museum" doesn't look very good in Pretendo.
I use Pretendo myself in limited use at my site -

you may want to edit things you write in Pretendo at the pixel level to reshape them to fit a little better together.

However in this instance it looks fine to me. Although as you pointed out the heights and shit indeed need to be adjusted.
I agree with David though, it's just one of those fonts that benefits from a little photoshop level adjustment. It's a decent starting point for a Nintendo-esque logo though.

The width of each stroke needs to be shortened considerably, though. It's workable, I guess, but you'd have to do some real editing to fix it.

If I had the call on which to use, first of all I would cut out #1. The "Museum" part of the logo is tiny, and looks scrunched-in underneath the "Nintendo". You want the two parts to flow together, but you also want people to notice your logo. Chances are, most people would glance right over it without even seeing it with #1. It also looks a bit fanpage-ish...
Being that it's a "Museum", you want something that looks a bit classic. That cuts out #4 too in my opinion, which looks a little modern and cartoonish, perhaps something you'd see used on the sign of a local game shop.
Numero 2 looks a bit too classic, crossing the line into outright grooviness, which leaves my choice -- #3. To my eyes, it flows the best and looks the most professional. Or at least about as professional as you can be while incorperating someone else's trademarked logo, anyway.

I'd try the font "8BIT WONDER" and see how that looks.
If you go with the mushroom be sure to center it.
Is #9 Haettenschweiler?

#8 isn't doing anything for me LOL Same with the other mushroom cap ones. The fonts that fit (the Haettenschweiler one, #9) are too bland, and the others don't line up.

Thanks for the input everyone. Chanes are, I won't use any of the mushroom designs anyway.
The logos are actually for a Nintendo themed MAME cabinet I am working on. I may reconsider the mushroom logo for the side art of the cabinet, but I'll probably go with one of the original four images at the start of this post for the cabinet's marquee.
The cabinet is an original Nintendo cab that needs some work. I'm completly refurbishing it and making it a MAME cabinet that only plays some of my favorite Ninteno arcade games. The cabinet will retain the original joystick and buttons for that authentic feel.

LOL When I was doing the concept art for the first MAME / emulation cab design I plotted out years and years ago, I began with the marquee...

Of course that's WAY compressed from the original size. I've since scraped it until I have more space and began on building a MAME only cocktail about a year ago as time allows.
