View Full Version : Ye gods. The Power Glove was actually released in Japan?!

I went to the flea market today, did my usual rounds, and found a boxed Power Glove. Well, a boxed -Japanese- Power Glove. I didn't buy it since, well, it's a frickin' POWER GLOVE.

But I was weirded out a bit. I was under the impression that the thing didn't come out anywhere except that on the good ol' US of A.

The thing had the glove, some sort of sensors, a styrofoam ... thing where the glove was stored and the top of the box. I didn't find any manuals or the bottom of the box, so I left it there.

Is this worth anything? Is it rare? 'Cause if it is I can go back and buy it and resell it here. :P

It's not rare, it's not worth *that* much, I don't believe. Check eBay, there should be one on there.

I bought a boxed 3D System (glasses) myself for about $40-50 a while back, and it's actually worth a bit less.

Yea I paid abotu 40 - 50 for my US boxed power glove. I don't think it will be worth anything until the people who do have it stop selling it. Then watch the price jump another $50.

I did a quick check on ebay... complete sets go for $30-$50. Amazing.

Does anyone here own a Japanese version, though?

Nope. I wouldn't shell out for it unless there's some unknown amazing game for it which I haven't heard of.

But dude... it's a POWER GLOVE. It's... so... bad! LOL

Give it a few more years to get even more rare and it will be a $100 seller easy.

Japan never got Super Glove Ball so it's even more pointless over there.

All i can say is:

Lefties, you just aren't bad enough.

I still wonder what the point of the Power Glove is.

Wasn't the Power Glove used in Emmanuelle 7?

It was originally released in Japan by Bandai as a third party periphrial, Nintendo bought the rights to release it in America, much like the power pad.

It's already had what, over 15? Close to 20.

This is one of those items that it's doubtful people will really care about for a long time.

Thanks for the info, Bratwurst. Wasn't even thinking about that game.

It was third party here too, not first. I believe Mattell released it.

Actually buying a bar of chocolate is almost more expensive than buying the power glove in Japan.

And the chocolate is three times as useful.

And the chocolate is three times as useful.
But you need the Power Glove to tap its TRUE POWER!

Grasp this chocolate bar in thine gauntlet, Warrior of Nintendo! *get sound*

But then you'll get chocolate all over that Power Glove.

Not only does that reduce its power, its also messy and a waste of good chocolate.

I guess it was. It did give all the right handed people in the world a chance to enjoy "Super Glove Ball" and...uh...

hmmmm...

What were we talking about again?

Perhaps if the inner part would have been soft you could have used it at least to stimulate yourself.

I'm amazed that nobody mentioned there being one at the CGE auction last fall. If I remember correctly, nobody went for the starting bid of $20.

I also spotted one sitting on a shelf during the game shop tour in the latest episode of RetroCore (http://www.segagagadomain.com/RetroCorepage-main.htm).

$20 is a bit steep.

Perhaps if the inner part would have been soft....

I put it up on eBay, so far seems like nobody wants it. :( Oh well.
