I sent this in to the DP news desk, but I figured I'd post it here, too.

I must say that I'm not really surprised, but if they're looking to solidify any kind of foothold here in the U.S., Sammy is an awfully small company over here. Other than the Guilty Gear series, I'm not too keen on anything they've released that got major attention.

One thing's for sure: as gamers, we can't afford to lose Sega.

Highlighting its problems, Sega slashed its group net profit forecast for the year to March to 500 million yen ($4.12 million) from a previous forecast of five billion, due largely to poor U.S. sales of "Sega Sports NFL 2K3," an American football simulation game released in August.
Gee...they were placing most of their marketing & hopes on THAT?? You'd think that they'd have been thinking "Sonic" or "Sega GT" or something.

I remember talk once about Sega looking into merging with Bandai around 97' - 98'.
