Both were pretty solid platformers for the Genesis, but which did you think was better?
I'd go with World of Illusion, it was a bit slow, but the worlds were more creative and fun. The attacking in Castle of Illusion however was much easier then the cape in World.

as a game, overall, i liked castle of illusion. granted i havent played either game in at least 10 years. but from i remember, i enjoyed CoI more, back in the day.

My vote goes for Castle of Illusion. I actually owned Castle of Illusion for the Genny way back and own both titles now. I remember playing for hours and hours. When I got back into collecting Castle of Illusion is a game i had to get right away. I later got World, just to see how it was. I think its a great game as well, but nothing keeps me glued to the tube more than COI.

Castle of Illusion for sure. I just like the design and gameplay better. World is a ton of fun, but Castle's just got a special feeling to it.

Castle of Illusion for me too. It was my first game for the Genesis back in the day and I have very fond memories of it!

Castle of Illusion is a much better game, especially considering how much older it is.
World of Illusion isn't a bad game, but it just lacks the charm that Castle of Illusion has so much of.
I would say the only other 16-bit Mickey game that's as good as CoI is Mickey Mania, although I've only played it on Sega CD.

But best Mickey Game of the 16 bit era was Mickey Mouses Magical Quest for the SNES. Easily.

Castle of Illusion here too. I do like WoI quite a bit, and (sticking solely to Genesis Disney games) I also enjoyed Quackshot quite a bit. Didn't play enough of Mickey Mania or Fantasia to get a feel for either, though.

Castle of Illusion. No contest IMHO. This game defined Sega. As a kid, this was a great alternative to super fast sonic, and held a decent challenge! The animation is excellent, and the backgrounds and music linger in your head after you are done playing.
Game Gear version of CoI holds up well too. I am assuming the GG version is identical to the SMS version.

Castle of Illusion but on the Sega Master System. :D
A highlight of junior high was playing it non-stop (along with Wonder Boy) over at Julie's house.

Castle of Illusion for me too. It was one of the first Sega games I ever owned, and I played it to death. World of Illusion seemed really crappy in comparison.
I like Land of Illusion too. ;)

MAybe some people here are talking without having played both games.
I played and finished BOTH games. Castle of illusion is a masterpiece in all aspects. World of illusion is above average but it didnt amaze me.

Castle of Illusion is a very good game, i think you should buy this one, but World of Illusion...oh man!!! one of the main characters is Donald!!!...i just love that duck!!!
