Oh my good lord. It certainly looks real enough as it appears to be recorded on a VHS tape. Un-freaking-believable. The low time on my current cart is 1:48 and I thought that was alright. I wish we had my friend's cart from when we were kids. I actually beat 150cc Special Cup for the once and only time on that one, so I figure the Rainbow Road time must've been rather low. Nowhere near 1:25, however.
As far as being unbelievably good at games, about all I have is Contra, playing through without dying on a handful of occasions, which everyone I've told (and cares) thinks is amazing.
Oh, and a friend of mine was the unofficial Goldeneye champion of Pittsburgh for a time in 1999. I say that because somebody sponsored a huge tournament the week the Dreamcast came out. First prize was a DC and some games, so all the top players showed up and he won it somehow. We always thought he was pretty good when he annihilated us 1 vs. 3 all the time. Then we knew for sure. :)

His ability to slide in between the falling thwomps(?) as he's turning is really crazy. Very nice video indeed.

Haven't watched that vid (and I'm not suggesting that the guy did this) but one (underhand) way to get seemingly-insane times on SNES Mario Kart is by playing the PAL cart on an NTSC system - the PAL version was tweaked so it wouldn't appear 17% slow on a PAL system, so by playing the PAL version on an NTSC console, you travel much faster than when playing a "true" NTSC version.

LOL
My friend always said how he was sure that he had the best time ever in that course on that game. I'll ask him what his best time was. Apparantely, he would stay up for hours perfecting every corner.

The person nearly hits some of those Thwomps a few times and jumps with some crazy style. For some reason though, it does look like he's going a bit faster than he should, but it might be from not playing the game in quite some time. Great player though and I bet they could kick my ass in any Mario Kart game.

Maybe you forget how fast a top speed Bowser can go. :)

ok that was just plain crazy. How was he able to do all of those jumps? I haven't played that version yet.

That is insane. However, I recall there being little boosters at the end of the lap, when the road splits into two....why would he not hit them if they are indeed there?
And yes he does seem to be going a little faster than I recall Bowser could move.....but again, that could be me too.

He was doing the time trials, which are simply plain tracks with the appropriate thwomps. No speed boosters.
Watching it again, I concur he seems to be moving a bit fast, but to be fair, I've only played with Koopa Troopa for about the last decade. :)

Ahh yes of course. Thanks.
And I'm the same, Koopa is the only one I use too. 8-)

OH YEAH!? Bowser is my fav character...
But I'm having a peculiar issue in multiplayer whenever I choose the stage we race I lose and if I don't I win?
Been getting a hit of my mario crack kart 64 everyday now, hopelessly addicted.
