I am very excited about Sega of America localizing Ryu ga Gotoku for US PS2 (read in newest issue of Game Informer). I wonder how come no one else has discussed this before. Is no one else looking forward to the release of this game in English?

Yes, I believe that is the name of the protagonist in the game.

Doesn't this have a Shenmue atmosphere with beat em up gameplay? Count me in!

I'm very very interested. Especially given that Shenmue is pretty much my favourite ever game. This is meant to be completely different though. More brawling and yes, the Yakuza name does fit it well I think

update: going to be renamed "street sol'jaz", and everything oriental in the game will be akwardly altered to fit the urban gangsta theme. the soundtrack will consist of only the most overplayed MTV-style rap, and most of the ethnicity will be changed as well. the guys who modeled the box for "rival turf" are rumored to be on the new cover.

I'm very happy [and stunned actually] that this is being brought to the US. The game looks great.

I won't lie, the only reason that this caught my eye was because of it's similarities to Shenmue.

But really, couldn't they have just taken the money that went toward developing this game and given it to Suzuki-san so that we could get Shenmue III already? [I know, I know...]

The character's name is Kiriyu Kazuma. I really hope they don't call him "Yakuza"... lol. That'd be stupid.
