I bought the DVD a week ago or so and I actually like it. I feel that It missed quite a lot from the game, but dammit, I liked seeing my characters in live action!
What about you?

The question as posed seems rather... ambiguous...
Street Fighter: The Movie
* Yes
* No
Well, yes it exsisted... and yes, it was crap. On the other hand, no it wasn't any good. So i'm not sure how to answer.

I hated it for all the obvious reasons.
I did like the Japanese animation one (in Japanese, subtitled or not) but I didn't like the dubbed version at all.
Also, let's not forget my ultra neat-0 description of the ultimate SF2 movie, featured in this action-packed thread-

I saw it in the theatre. It's terrible, but I laughed my ass off at a couple parts.
The animated movie was good, but I've never been able to get ahold of the subtitled japanese version.
Aside from the music and shower scene, what else is different?
Street Fighter Alpha OVA was okay, but Generations was just silly.
I never saw SFII:V, but I've read mixed reviews.

I'm sure you mean the 1 with Van Damme in it. It's so bad it's bad.
There's a game of the movie too. Ironic that it's the game of the movie, of the game.
And so on.

Actually, there's a game based on the anime as well, and it's actually worse than the game based on the live action flick.

The movie was pretty damn awful..
What was up with the part near the end where that professor guy suddenly lost all of his hair, and his shirt was off, and he has chains around his neck and stuff... as if he just turned into Dhalsim because of some explosion. He wasn't even Indian!
Raul Julia, however, was a terrific actor.. may he rest in peace.
Total cheese, but the good cheese.
If you want a laugh at a idiotic movie, watch it!

On the idiotic factor, this movie is less than Ghoulies, but higher than most of the movies that involve Van Damme in them.

What a god aweful movie! LOL
Honestly I think the movie based game was better than the movie itself, well that is until you get to the endings then it just downright sucked monkey balls!

This movie was pretty sad... but did I WANT to see it when it first came out? You bet. Was I GLAD I saw it afterwards? Not at the time...
However, when I look back at it now, I am glad I saw it... It's a shining example of just how lame a video game movie can be. Conversely, I found the Mortal Kombat movie to be much more entertaining...
I can't rag on the SF movie too much though, 'cause somehow I wound up buying this on DVD for the sake of nostalgia (for cheap, mind you, but I DID still purchase it). I just can't bring myself to watch the darn thing again!

For this to be Raul Julia's final movie is a crime.
Hopefully he will forever remembered for his wonderful portraly(sp) of Gomez Addams.
I was still into video games (the first time) when this came out and even then i knew this movie was lame.
If you want something better that is SF2 related go find the Jackie Chan movie "City Hunter".

Oh yes, that live action City Hunter thing had a short SF2 style fight at the end. Done for laughs only, though.

I am skeptical of your comment. Could you be referring to Street Fighter 2010?

Every once in a while, I'll vote in a poll just because the answer is so obvious. Street Fighter: The Movie, yea or nay? NAY.

I believe there was an "interactive" version of the animated movie for the Saturn/PS1 in Japan.

And I'm voting no on proposition Streetfighter the movie.

This was the same guy that played Chattar Lal in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

It's alright if you want to just watch a Street Fighter flick. But if you want something way better, do like the others say and go with the Alpha animated movies. I saw them at Best Buy the other day for $20 each (ouch), but if you really want to catch them it's worth it.
Of course, KYLIE MINOGUE, rocked.

Well, the whole scene still didn't make any sense. Dhalsim doesn't even fight in the movie, so what's the point of forcing him in there, with no real explaination?

I hated the fact they turned it into a war movie. The song from it was cheesy as well, I can't remember who sung it now..

I think there's a little more violence, but the main difference is the music. The Japanese version has a nice, fitting soundtrack, not the corny metal stuff in the dub. Oh, and the names are correct. (The guy with the mask and claw is Balrog, the boxer is Bison, etc.)

When I first watched Street Fighter I hated it, but circumstances conspired force me into repeat viewings and now its one of my favorite movies. Even though it’s horrible. How do I love the Street Fighter: The Movie, let me count the ways:
* Raul Julia in his best performance ever. He absolutely chews up the scene in every shot he is in. You can tell he really puts his heart and soul in to this role of a caricature dictator. "Over the top" is an understatement. The amazing part of his performance is how he pulls it off when every other actor in the movie is obviously phoning it in. The director doesn't care, the rest of the cast is half asleep, but Raul Julia does not go out with a whimper.
* The plot doesn't make any sense on so many levels. Its like an onion of illogic, you can just keep pulling back layers to find more and more nonsensical actions. Why does Guile fake his death? Why did Guile waste all day lying on a slab in his own base just to scare a news reporter? Did Cammy just beat up a random news crew? How or why do Ken and Ryu keep getting back into a story that doesn't involve them at all? Why are all those AN troops so eager to die in the muck rather than go home like they were told? How exactly would blue and gray cammo be effective in a sub-tropical jungle? You could go on like this for hours. I've seen it 6 times and every time I find something new that makes no sense at all. David Lynch films might be more coherent, but they aren't nearly as much fun as this.
* The writer seemed to be under some sort of mandate to fit every single character from the game into the film. Most of them are totally tacked on and the entire plot is a big elaborate conspiracy to get them into their wacky game costumes. "Oh look, Chun Li's spiked bracelets were actually S&M handcuffs held together with springy phone cord. Now the game makes sense."
* Jean Claude playing a Captain America type with such a heavy accent that you can barely understand him. Exactly what part of Texas did you say you were from? And I love how he runs his military unit with more nutty plans than Cobra Commander.
* Hulk Hogan called, he wants his boat back.
Best movie ever.
Also in the movie, another Australian 'Neighbours' ( as was Kylie) actress called Emma Harrison, seen for 3 seconds at the party sitting next to...can't remember.
She later stripped for Playboy, and very nice too, I got the DVD

I don't remember where i read this (a DVD magazine perhaps) but an interview with the director (Steven DeSouza? I think) he mentions that the studio wanted all 12 characters in the movie but when "Super" arrived they wanted all 16 in the movie. He went on to say that you couldnt have a good (coherent) movie when you are trying to tell that many stories all at once.

Ocean's Eleven worked out pretty well...
(They didn't actually have Thunderhawk in the movie, did they?)

His words, not mine.
I do recall him being excited about the movie when interviewed before the movie in "Gamepro" but when i read this other interview (done years after the movie was made) he wasnt quite so happy and excited about the flick.

I would have to agree with that.
Anybody know for certain what the deal was with Fei Long? As far as I can tell, Fei Long isn't in the movie at all. I remember hearing somewhere that the character Captain Sawada was originally supposed to be Fei Long. I heard that the name was changed to Sawada (the same name as the actor who played him) because he was a big actor or wrestler or something in Japan and they wanted to cash in on the name. Oddly, Sawada means nothing to us here in the states, so I'm not sure why they just didn't change it only in the Japaneese version. For that matter, if he was so popular, wouldn't the audience recognize him without the character name having to be altered? Yet another sureal gem on the tacky, lovable crown that is Street Fighter: The Movie.

Yeah, Thunderhawk was in there. He was one of the AN troops that stormed the temple and he stuck around with Cammy mostly. He has some sort of line about his headband.

It was such a God awful movie, totally clueless.
Only thing I liked was "Quick change the channel!!!" and seeing Kylie Minogue in a movie about Street Fighter.

Best part from what i remember was when Ken went to do a hurricane kick on one of the bad guys. He jumped up landed, spun around, jumped again and kicked the guy...
Much like a child imitating the game in the play ground.
