This is one for you old-timers out there. If you're like me, you dumped all your 2600 stuff around 85 in favor of more Commodore gear. I didn't start collecting for 10 years after that. So the question is two-fold;
1. Can you REMEMBER what games and gear you originally had?
2. Do you have all those games in your collection now?
For me, #2 is a lot easier to answer than #1. The answer to 2 is surely...no! I'm missing my Amiga Joyboard and whatever cart that came with ( Mogul Maniac?). I'm also short a Wico Trackball. And this is not to speak of the Atari Ages and Electronic Games magazines I had back in the day. Otherwise, I'm pretty much set.
As for #1, my list is divided into games I definitely had, and games I maybe had (or maybe borrowed from a pal, or thought I had but really didn't).
The definites:
Space Invaders
Combat
Berzerk
Defender
Frogger
Act. Tennis
Pitfall
Kaboom
Spiderman
Adventure
Battlezone
Missile Command
Zaxxon
Home Run
Football
Super Breakout
Pac Man
ET
Asteroids
Star Raiders
Swordquest Earthworld
Laser Blast
River Raid
Demon Attack
Moonsweeper
The Empire Strikes Back
Mogul Maniac (?)
Centipede
Artillery Duel/ Chuck Norris
Solar Fox
Yars Revenge
Q-Bert
Maybes:
M Network Football
M Network Baseball
Venture
Starmaster
Chopper Command
Donkey Kong
Ms. Pac Man
Galaxian
Phoenix
Bowling
Street Racer
Vanguard

I have all of the nintendo games I had when I was a kid but not the sms stuff I had... I can't find anything I had... and I don't remember many games I had. I still need My Hero, Alien Syndrome, and maybe some others... As for Atari. i couldn't remember the names of them when I had them and I still don't know there names... But I don't collect for the Atari right now (i have seen 1 pacman game, thats it.)

I never sold any when I got C64. The C64 was a christmas gift in '84 and again in a bundle with C64c, 1541-II drive and 5 software in '91
And yes I can quote my original collection: heavy Sears plus Target Fun (Combat) and shortly afterward Circus (sears). I still have the very same heavy console.

The hardest for me to duplicate would be the NES I think. Although I would like to think I must be close by now, but I can't remember everything I had. Some of it, I had given to a family member. They were kind enough to return it to me though.

I'm your classic 34 year old packrat who still has a lot of the toys I had when I was 9. So I got pretty much 99.9% of my videogames. The only things I've lost are the occasional 2600 cartridge I let someone borrow in 7th grade only to never get it back, and a handheld or two that was stolen at school. >:(

I think I am two games away from having everything I had as a kid for the 2600...(Atari Video Cube and Harbor Escape). Mind you, I have 75 more games now than I ever did back then :)
I am about 250 disks short on my C64 disk collection :( I had a ton of those...I miss them so much :( Especially Mini Golf, Mini Putt, Skate Rock and my complete collection of game show adaptations...
I'm actually still missing at least one NES game (Bill N Ted's Excellent Adventure). I only had 13 back then...
For Genesis...I know I need Earthworm Jim and Clue, then that one will be done as far as I can remember...
everything else (SNES and up), I still have, or I never had it back then, but have it now.

We never dumped the stuff, buty my little brother loaned out a bunch of our carts to one of his friends--never saw them again! I think I've got back pretty much everything that was loaned out, except for Stampede and Frogger (lazy me). I've got about 50 carts.

I still have all my original stuff from when I was a kid. the only thing that seems to have been lost or tossed are all my manuals from my 2600. the boxes were are tossed upon opening.
same goes for all my C64 stuff but I managed to hang on to the manuals.
starting with the NES I kept everything boxes, manuals, warrenty cards. some of the boxes still have shrink wrap on them, I just slit it with a knife to get the cart out.
hell, my NES is STILL hooked to same TV from when I bought it in 1986. the only time it was unhooked was when i moved.
same story for my Genesis, purchased 1991
and my PSX, purchased 1998
I only had about 40 games for each of these system but that gave me a good start when I REALLY dove into video game collecting about 3 years ago.
my house may be cluttered but... DAMN I'M GLAD I NEVER THROW ANYTHING OUT.
@scooter: I've got a bunch of those C64 Game Show games. If you don't mind copies I can attempt to make some. If I can find some blank disks.

Let's see...I'm missing a couple of things.
Odyssey 1 (broke and was thrown away, would be fun to have again, but not at the prices I've seen)
Coleco Telestar Arcade (see above)
My original Six Switch (another that broke, but I did get another eventually)
My Atari 400 (got the games again, but nothing to play them on)
All my pirated Apple ][ games (not a huge loss, loved them at the time, but I don't feel too nostalgic for them.)
