Hi there
Just one question from an european guy: Is it true that the newer factory sealed PS2 games doesn't have the white label on the top of the box?
Sorry when this question was answered already.
Thanks

Depends on the publisher. White labels == paying sony royalties. It's a strange system of what must have the white labels and what doesn't. Few reprints have them. Oh, and the official term is "Spine Label" so the one on top would be the Top Spine Label.

Thanks for the information
Just ask because of Atelier Iris and Radiata Stories which I saw without the label here at a local store....and wonder if they are factory sealed or not....

This may have been true a few months ago, but thats not the case anymore. NO PS2 game, including 'SOE' games and reprints have that anymore, they got rid of them for an unknown reason.

They got rid of them because they pissed me off! That's why :D
Yes, I told them to stop it, you know I did.

Hmmm....thats shit.
I think that was the only indicator that shows it's the FIRST release and not a later release of a fucking internetstore (I remember Rhapsody and Persona 2)....

The Spine stickers have been gone since just about the time Metal Slug 4/5 came out Stateside which was early last summer.
The reasoning has never been mentioned to the best of my knowledge.

I imagine the reasoning behind it was since EVERY store on the planet has their games locked up in a glass case anyways, wtf is the point of the spine sticker?

Why? To rip the sleeve if the sticker touches any part of it!
I'm so damn happy :D Begone I say.

As I said before: I think that was the only indicator that seperates the First releases from the later releases. The later release of Persona 2 and Rhapsody for example have no Spine Label....look at the worth of them in ebay (30 Dollar NEW).....
When somebody is collecting factory sealed games is this a big problem. Who gives me the secure that in 5 years the shop which also released Persona 2 and Rhapsody, doesn't bring out the rare PS2 games like Atelier Iris, Disgaea...and so on for 20 Dollar NEW.

Thank god they're getting rid of them. I've never enjoyed having to take them off. In recent years, I've been just cutting them off with a razor and trying to be careful not to go so deep as to cut the plastic case. Thank god I won't even have to do that anymore.
Now if only they could do the same thing for DVDs as well (seeing Warner Brothers migrate away from those shitty flimsy cardboard cases was a godsend) then all will be right in the world. Seriously, why the hell do they slap 3 of those suckers on some movies?

I understand this, but I also understand that game manufacturers don't give a flying shit about collectors looking for originally sealed copies. That must be what, 1 out of every 100,000 games sold (if that?)
