I found the Colecovision, Frogger, Star Wars: General Grievous, and WWE plug & play systems at two different Wal-Marts, so I know this isn't a YMMV situation. The wireless version of the Ms. Pac-Man is also $4.88 if you can find it. Good luck...

Sounds pretty cool, but it's probably a YMMV thing. I'll have to check next time I go to Wally World.

Bah damnit, I've been there twice today and forgot to look both times x_x

Luckily I have to go pick up one of those "poppin bites" Pizza Hut pizzas tonight for food, so I'll try it again... Hopefully 3rd times a charm

Well I looked on the 3rd trip to Wal-Mart and the only 4$ one that I found was a single Dragonball Z plug and play. I was hoping to get a frogger or Ms. Pac-Man. I ended up leaving it there...

I did see a Mortal Kombat and a Sonic plug and play, but they were both red tagged from $21.00, to $17.00, then down to $15.00... Maybe next drop will be down to $10 :)

I never understood the draw of these things. Even for $4, just get the ROMs, buy a good pc controller and get better video quality. eh

Sitting in front of your monitor.

At $5, they are an awesome deal. And as a 1 step solution, are far simpler than the solution you offered.

It's a shame we usually don't get similar clearance sales north of the border. Though I did manage to get the Coleco Head-to-Head system this week for $8 (had been previously marked down on 2 occasions).

My mon was nice enough to stop in Wal-Marts today, and they only had two, but it still has a good deal. I got Frogger and Star Wars Yoda.

The Star Wars one says limited edition Yoda on it. What's up with this?

The draw to these for me is convenience.....I can take one or seveal of these into any room and play them/thus I have more then one of each to leave in certain rooms.
When I go over in relatives houses/trips etc..I can take one or two of these with me..

Covenience:
I just put a 13 inch TV in my Bathroon to hook these up to,.

Makes for a good time on the shitter... :D

Yes..I am Married..Going on 8 yrs now.
My wife's a bigger gamer than me..She beta tests games for Sony(GAP) and plays many online games.

....................
As regard to the Touchmaster 7000(I was asked this)
Only me and my wife Use the Touchmaster-touch screen game in there....We use Clorox disinfecting wipes on that machines screen after every use...(if we even play it)
I'm a neat freak crazy about cleanliness person...You could eat out of my toilet.. :D

Think about it this way..
When you see these touchscreen machines in Bars/Bowling Alleys/Arcades no one is going around cleaning the screens on them..So many people touch those screens,People coming out of bathrooms..not washing thier hands etc..
That's much more germs then my stuff will ever see.. :/

I don't think they ever will. :( .But I'd hope they'd do it.....
Atleast drop them down a hundred bucks or two...
They took out the display unit full size machine at my local target right after Christmas...(it was gone)
I'd be sickened if they removed it and threw it in the dumpster... x_x
...............................................

Walmart Plug & Play..
I'm going to hit another Walmart in my Area Thursday and see what they have on the shelves..
In my close by Walmart about two weeks ago they were flooded with the Froggers at $17.00...They had a Ton yet I didn't see anything to even note that they had been there.
They couldn't sell them at all...
(they change that store around so fast)

They had the 6 Game Coleco Head to Head for $4.88 but I grabbed the 12 game set..(at $4.88)

The Spidermans,EA Sports,World Poker Tour were still $17.00 or more....(some in a clearance area for Red Tag $15.00 BIG DEAL!! x_x

The Ms. Pac-Man I picked up was the last one............and it's wireless...Ohh that's cool..

I went to the Walmart on rt23 in Sussex county NJ <don't know the town> and they were all out. They had a bunch of a ms pac man with 2 keys <rom chips?> that had more games in them. Screw that, just another gimmic to sell these things. Anyways, those were $11.00 I think, not interested.

That's exactly what they're going to do, display fixtures such as that (and that's what the demo one is classified as since the value is $0.00) must be destroyed. Now during my time with Target Corporation I was able to smuggle quite a bit out of the store I ended up running the electronics department of at the store level. Hell, I even managed to get the large Episode II Lego display out of toys (with the Jedi Starfighter and Slave I in the bubble) no problem. Wasn't supposed to take it but the executive on duty at the time didn't know what the hell I was talking about when I asked so I got it anyway. Sat in my office for two days before taking it home and no one even questioned me on it. LOL Now if I was still with them, the demo machine was going to be crushed in the compactor and I couldn't find a way to get it (which is unlikely since I pretty much had say over anything in electronics with no one looking over my shoulder) then I would probably have stripped out the game cartridge and the interface board while it was sitting in logistics awaiting its destruction. LOL We did that before when they were junking the power wheels displays once, took the motors and batteries out of them.

That's pretty much what I saw at my local Wal-Mart too. All gone (except for one WWE game but I couldn't care less) but they had a TON of the 6 player Coleco Head to Head units. Well those are really just TV recreations of the old Coleco LED handheld sports games so I was going to pass until I saw the 12 game version with two controllers for two player support and 6 additional games for the same price. The must have just put them out because the shelf (dunno how I missed it at first) was overflowing.

Coleco Head to Head 2 player 12 game version feels pretty cheap and plasticy, even as these games go, in fact you might think there's nothing in there since the case is so light. You get the six LED recreation sports games which again is nothing spectacular. However the other games include decent Space Invaders (Deep Sea Madness) and Missle Command (Sea Defender) knock offs as well as a pretty good two player Breakout (Wall Breaker) clone which I did play for awhile. The other games over the 6 game version are a boring Racquetball game, Kung Fu Fly Catcher which is really just a "press the button when you see a fly" reaction game, and Car Racing that's best explained as a VERY simple version of Road Fighter - but it's better than the Odyssey 2 racing game. Is it worth $20? No. Is it worth $5? Yeah. The decent Breakout clone is worth that. Just make sure you get the 12 game version in the black case because the 6 game one is too much at any price. Also, is that a GameCube plug / socket used for the second controller? @_@

I was at the Yukon, OK Wal-Mart earlier (I-40/Garth Brooks) and this is what I saw:

$5 - Coleco
$10 - Texas Hold 'Em Poker
$10 - Tetris
$16 - Street Fighter II

They also had two Donkey Kong things that looked kind of weird, actually one was Donkey Kong and the other was Super Mario Bros. for $6 each.

I just came from a couple Wal-Marts and the area where the plug and play TV games used to be has been swapped out for kiddie CD's and things like VideoNow. Stock had been out for awhile so the revisions look like they were put in. That means when discontinued stock shows up (always does with discount chains) it'll end up in some random place in the store. x_x

I got the Yoda and Frogger ones at WM the other day for $4.88.

All the other cheap-o ones were out. Strangely, the single controller and the 2 controller w/ case Coleco ones were the same price.

just a note about the midway display unit at targets.
they don't actually throw them away.

they put them upstairs in the employee break rooms.
(thats what they were offically spose to do with them, some stores may not have done it naturally)

but it was done at mine so yay ;-)

That depends on the Store Lead, many of them (that are running the top stores in their regions) don't like them in there due to destraction and maintenance issues. A Target Store a few over from the one I use to manage in had a pair of uprights (Pokemon Puzzle League and one other I can't recall) along with like couches and shit in their breakroom - and it was always an issue when they would have district visits as it was unprofessional looking. (you should be Region 200 as well if I'm not mistaken)

Also I know if my store had arcade uprights or anything like that I would have ended up being the person maintaining them. I pretty much did everything else technical in the store, of course, I did so gladly. However I always thought the reason that I was never pushed into being an executive was because then I wouldn't have the offtime to be their repair drone. LOL I made more as a lead anyway.

Yeah, because you wouldn't want your employees to actually be able to relax in the break room (I used to work for various Targets, and the break rooms were usually messy, smelled of burnt food and had uncomfortable chairs).

I would think having an arcade machine of whatever form might be a bit too much though... probably would catch people playing it all the time and the noise would get distracting as well.

Yeah, that was the main thing, people stretching their breaks / lunches past where they should because they were playing games.

Just came from a Wal-Mart that is undergoing a full retrofit (town has been fighting them not to build a super Wal-Mart and just won, so the normal Wal-Mart is being updated) so all the runs are up to date. On the new TV games run the single player six game Coleco Head-To-Head unit is $2.50, tons of those. The two player twelve game Coleco Head-To-Head unit is $4.88. The $4.88 WWE Wrestling handheld is back in full force, it must be getting carried back over as normal stock. Aside from that I was about to leave dissapointed once more when I saw a couple Frogger's on the very top shelf.

Sure enough, it was stray stock that was sitting up there, $4.88 so I grabbed both. It's not that bad at all, I'm surprised. Sure it's not arcade accurate but it's still a good port of the arcade version and the stick is nice and responsive. The two jump forward buttons are stupid and worthless but other than that is all good. I'm keeping one myself and giving the other to my girlfriend, birthday is next week so I'm wrapping it up with the other stuff I got her.

So - check the risers for stray / returned stock. I was in a hurry so I really didn't spend all that much time poking around the risers in the toy department but there has to be more around there. Only the Coleco Head-To-Head and WWE games are being carried over at $4.88, the more expensive stuff (Tetris, etc.) are retaining their prices.
