View Full Version : What would you do? (Pissy buyer)
Sold a complete Tactics Ogre on eBay. Buyer paid $8 for shipping, I shipped using UPS, to provide tracking and insurance, and packaged in a bubble mailer. I get this feedback
IThinkFor$8ShippingAnd$XXForPS1 Tactics Ogre ICouldHaveGottenMoreThanAGDEnvelope
I post a follow-up feedback comment saying he also got tracking and insurance, to which he follows-up under my feedback

First I heard about the case being broken. At no point was I ever contacted about a damaged item, otherwise I would have either offered a few bucks back (if it was just a crack from some sort of impact), or followed up with UPS myself. I went ahead and filed a complaint with eBay for 'feedback vulgarity' (the word doesn't bother me, but the context and the comment as a whole do).
Now I also have a buyer from France freaking out because I shipped a game out to him five days ago, and due to both this and an apparent lack of patience/international shipping faith on the French buyer's part, I field a concerned e-mail from him every other day. Anybody have further suggestions or similar experiences in these situations?

Someone left you bad feedback. It happens. Move on.
Ship international only via EMS.
That's pretty much all you can do with the two situations.

Sage advice.
I try to stay away from shipping in bubble mailers myself.

Never send complete games like PSX/Saturn/GBA/SNES etc. in a bubbleenvelope. The chances that the box gets damaged is big. Always use a small cartboard box or something simular.
How did you ship the game to France? Airmail? I think Airmail can take upto 2 weeks. If you want to be sure it arrive, use GEM/EMS. I bought over 800 items from other countries and used EMS only 10-15 times. Others was sent with airmail or global priority mail and about 3-4 items have been lost. Amazing that so few have been lost :)

No offense but it really wasn't very smart to ship a CD based game with a plastic case internationally while only packaged in a bubble mailer. I wouldn't even ship a game in a jewelcase domestically this way. The game obviously got damaged in shipping and now the buyer is pissed because he doesn't feel that you packaged it well enough. And he's right. Learn from your mistake and move on.

I'd avoid using bubble mailers for stuff other than loose carts. The jewel cases get shattered all the time. There's one of those small size Priority boxes (free, of course) which will fit a single/double jewel case perfectly with room for bubble packaging. MUCH safer.
In response to the international buyer, you may want to provide a link to the USPS rate calculator, and they can check the shipping chart for themselves that a package sent using whatever method will take X number of days/weeks to arrive.

I agree with the buyer, for $8 you couldn't come up with something better than a bubble envelope? You should have boxed that up.

I think the buyer from that auction is missing something... oh yea here it is "SPACE BAR" ....
Yes you probably should of shipped it in something different than a bubble mailer, but he should of contacted you first about it being damaged before leaving feedback. If you haven't already I would just leave him negative feedback (unless ebay does something about it).
And about that other buyer from France... some people are impatient... he'll just have to get over it, and I guess you'll just have to keep answering e-mails from him until it arrives.

yeah, I never ship anything even kind-of rare in a bubble mailer, and I would be annoyed if I bought tactics ogre and it came shipped thusly. I always put games I sell in a carboard box, unless it is a common cart only. IMHO, he has a right to be annoyed.

Auction Link?
$8.00's not bad for overseas shipping-- invalid complaint by buyer. BUT think poe ran 'cause he didn't like our answers.

I totally agree with you. I never go in that direction. Fuck those bubble mailers. They cause too many problems. One guy shipped my sealed NES Double Dragon 2 in one of those. I was pissed. Anyways...it came fine...he was lucky.

The only thing I'd recommend shipping in a bubble mailer is loose carts. Otherwise defenitely use boxes. The last two cardboard genesis games I've recieved arrived in a freaking bubble mailer smashed. Was able to replace the inner tray which is what got messed up bad both times, but it's still annoying.

Almost all of my items have come in bubble mailer, I have never thought that it would be a problem. Everything that I have shipped has also been in this and have yet to have a problem but after reading all this I think I'll take a bit more care with the next items I ship. But if he was so worried about how it was being shipped he should have said something before hand.

I ship in bubble mailers if I ship via first class (anything $3 or less), if the buyer chooses Priority then I use the Priority boxes provided to me.

Specify in the auction how you will be shipping, explain that a box will cost slightly more, tell them to fuck off.

$8 shipping and you couldn't be bothered to use the free priority mail boxes that the post office gives you?
I'd be pissed too. Learn from your mistakes and move on.
