Pay $2 or sell your soul to ESPN? It's a scary question.

Is this a demo version? I wasnt' aware Fight Night Round 3 was out for the PSP yet. Still not a very good idea at all, almost as bad as buying a Gizmondo with ads pre-set on it.

All EA Sports games are like that on everything but Xbox Live. Have been for two years I believe. Tried to play NCAA Baseball twice online yesterday and got a dropped connection twice. Not something you'd want to pay for.

It looks like you register you personal info first... and then they hold it hostage for $2. Is that even legal? Buy a game, register your game, and then EA says give us money to play, or we sell your identity to ESPN. What a load of garbage.

The advertising in EA's games is annoying, yet tolerable, if not slightly humorous (replays brought to you by Old Spice? Does anybody under 30 USE Old Spice?). But this is just an absolute joke.

Does EA do this with ALL of their games, or just the sports ones?

It is pay $2 OR give them an email address. It is not both. And yes, every EA Sports title that uses EA Nation does this.

To be honest I never once got any spam when I registered with EA Nation to play Madden 06 on my PSP. Of course you could not get past week 2, but that is besides the point. I was able to play online, and never got spam from EA or ESPN.

EA Sports Nation is a joke. And getting kicked 2 out of 2 times in MVP NCAA 06 is also a joke.

EA is a joke... too bad they get publishing rights to good games (Half-Life2)... =/

And to be honest I am a little surprised that Kotaku is so late on this one.

1. It's old news as others have said (not directed at thread starter; directed at the blogs that "broke" this story).
2. WTF? It's two goddamn dollars. If people can't afford that shit they shouldn't spend $50 on a new videogame. And no, I don't give a shit about the princple of it.
