ok this level seems (nearly) impossible after you get the middle star in star world and you go to star road i beat the first level (gnarly) but for the life of me cant be the 2nd level (tubular) is there an easy way to beat it that im missing or is it actually as hard as it seems

Yeah, don't get hit. :p

Seriously, trial and error is the only way. You can't use the cape trick, as there isn't a long enough runway to get flying. One method that could work is trying to avoid using the p-balloons and going with a simple hop-on-the-enemy approach, but that may be even more difficult. One hint is to wait to get the p-balloon powerup until the absolute last second to give you extra time.

Oh man.
Tubular is the HARDEST level in the game. Its in such weird place too because it is sorrounded by all of those really fun/easy special levels.
I remember the first time that I got to that level, it took me forever to finally beat. I'm fairly good at beating it now, but that only came with practice. Looks like you beat it though, good stuff.

just out of pure couriousity, what happens when you beat the special zone? What happens when you completely beat the whole game altogether? I already beat bowser, but I am nowhere from completing the game 100% (yes, I'm a cheater; sue me :P).

When you beat the special zone, all of the koopas heads look like mario! I kinda hate it, so I never like to beat the special zone. You'll also see the transformed koopas in the end credits.

96 exits, not levels. The only thing you can really do is play through all of the levels with red dots, that you aren't sure if you've found both exits in or not. I did that and eventually found the few I was missing.

Red dot = level has 2 exits

Oh wow, good stuff with the red dots... I didn't know that. I'm real close to beating the game myself. I think I'm at 94, but I might be at 96 would just be awesome, a nice little surprise I guess.

But yeah tubular was a pain in the butt, I got there so long ago and never could be it, and then finally once I did, didn't seem that hard either. Good news is though that the other 6 special zone levels are crazy easy!

Good luck!

Gah, Tubular. Evil level. Not that the other Special ones are that much better. In the end, it all comes down to that one instant where you try to grab the second P-balloon...

Anyway, the easiest exits to miss are the "normal" exits from the Star Road levels, and also the multiple exits from the Forest Ghost House. The Valley Ghost House can be tricky too.

The overworld map colors change as well when you complete the special zone, making it look like it's autumn.
