Bankshot Billiards 2/Xbox 360 Achievements Rant

I need to rant. I am sure I will post something on my blog. But this is much more fun here.

I got the 50 Wins achievement for a game I lost to Gamereviewgod.

Just today I got the 9-Ball Shark achievement for getting the 9 ball in on the break (should have been Lucky Break achievement).

So now the 9-ball Shark achievement means nothing to me. I was supposed to get that for winning 5 games without losing a turn - much harder to achieve then hitting the 9 ball in on a break as I have done that 3 times with no achievement to show for it.

Is it the fault of the developers (pixelStorm, support@pixelstorm.ca) that the Achievement Points are awarded at the wrong time, or in the 9-Ball Shark case, when not even close to the achievement? To be fair, I have won 50 games, it just showed up at the wrong moment.

So when I see someone else got the 9-Ball Shark achievement, it means nothing. Not only is this a problem for Bankshot Billiards, but every other Xbox 360 title.

I have yet to have an achievement show up and the wrong time. But that is a bunch of crap man. I would seriously get in contact with the developer about that.

The points really mean jack shit. It's just a cheap ass way to make the gamer think they're achieving something special, when, in reality, they're just making it seem like you got your money's worth. Seriously, I've got 690 points, and most of the achivements I've gotten are a joke. Madden dishes out the points like a coke addict gives money to his dealer. Most peeps seem to have at least 1000+. Thing is, I can tell you I'm pretty damn decent at most games. I just don't feel like playing them over and over again in a repetious fashion just to get OMG LOOK I GOT 2000 DEATHS IN THIS GAMES +100 XBOX LIVE POINTS!!!

I'm not surprised there are glitches, as a lot of them seem tacked on as an afterthought. Some of them don't make any sense at all. Taken a look at some of PGR3's achievements? What the fuck is going on with all the consecutive numbers and slashes having no explanations?

On the subject of Bankshot Billiards 2, I'd be damn sad if I actually paid for the game. It came free with my Live kit. It seemed to have good physics, but if I wanted to play pool, I'd play real freakin' pool. :hmm:

Bankshot Billiards 2 is worth the $15. It might have its flaws but it is worth the money. It all comes down to what you get out of the game of course, and for me, I get my money's worth.

And I had this problem once, but with Wik: Fable of Souls. There's an acheivement for getting 60 points in Loopnastics, which I haven't done. However, when watching the video demonstration, the demo player "scored" 60. When I exited, it listed a score in the MILLIONS and gave me the acheivement. This score doesn't show up on my high score list, but the acheivement stays none-the-less. I hope to score 60 on my own sometime soon (I'm getting close), but until then those few points do feel a bit tainted.

I had an achievement problem in PGR3 today, the gotham tv fan one, I did all the requirements but it didnt give it to me until I actualy went into another game mode and took a in game picture (a tip I read on gamefaqs) and then it gave it to me.

Sure, some games are cheap, but the ones you've truly fought for are worth it. It's a way to keep people playing a game they may have stopped playing a while ago. There's not a chance in hell I'd finish Need for Speed if it wasn't for the Achievement points. However, I'm going to finish a game I wouldn't of because of them. Same goes for Ridge Racer.

That and I'll beat Pete Dorr someday... really.

I wanted you all to know that I got my Lucky Break Achievement!

Just like the "200 Games" Achievement (really 200 Wins) it is worded incorrectly.

Last night I even got the 9-ball in on a break of a RANKED match and it still did not give me the damn achievement! That was even to win the entire match, not just a game.

I found out through trial and error, as I have sunk the 9-ball on break almost a dozen times now, that you have to sink the 9-ball in your FIRST game, and the win the SECOND or THIRD game of the match. Once you win the match, you get the achievement... I think.

I finally last night pocketed the 9-ball on break in the first game, and won the second game normally. Got the F'ing 5 point achievement!

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

Somehow I think the 9-ball Shark achievement is worded wrong too!

yea...my 9-ball on the break achievement was messed up as well....i did it a few times...and it never awarded it....then i finally lost a 9-ball game to the comp and it got awarded....

Yeah, I had to do the exact same thing. I didn't even think of it as a glitch. I like the achievement feature myself, it makes me want to play more of the game or try things I wouldn't have in the first place.

I got my "200 Wins" Achievement in BB2 today after losing a game of Cutthroat on Live today. This Achievement system is brilliant, but it needs to be fixed so they are given out at the right time.
