This would be pure speculation of course, but anyone know how long it will be produced games for the GBA?
I always liked GBA, but since DS is so to say taking over, will they still contunie to produce GBA games?

Are there any big upcomming titles btw? Havnt followed the new titles that much, but the only game I'm looking forward to is Racing Gears 2.

Tales of Phantasia is coming in early March. :-P

I believe it'll be singing it's swan song in mid 2007, and the releases for it from now until then will be much like the Xbox's recent releases.

one of the things i like about the DS is that there is a bit of a restriction on the 3D in the system. you can only have full blown 3D on one screen or the other, so at worst gaming will still have a life raft of 2D/3D hybrids

Well, I don't have any complaints about the system dieing.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I consider my GBA one of the worst purchases I ever made. I didn't end up getting many games at all for it, and some of the "must have" games for the system I tried, didn't thrill me. And I hate all of the rehashes of old games that they've tried to repackage and sell at full-price a decade later.

I love my DS though. I hope Nintendo does stop making GBA games so they can concentrate more on making games for the DS instead.

i ended up with only 2 games for the gba after getting both versions of the handheld and a helluva lot of accessories, just not much there other than snes ports that interested me, though i must say minish cap is one damn good game, most of the time tetris dx or pokemon puzzle challenge lives in the machine now.

I've shifted my attention away from buying Genesis and SNES games and have now made efforts to pick up GBA titles while they're relatively inexpensive.

I have the feeling the end is drawing near for our beloved Gameboy, so I feel compelled to get games for it while I can.

So far, I've got a pretty decent collection going, along with 2 original GBA's and one new GBA SP 2. Damn I love that SP 2. :rocker:

The GBA rocks, but I'm sure it's time for it to fade away. But there are 2 March releases that interest me: The Tower SP and the Naruto game. The Tower SP really looks great. I'm looking forward for that one.

I just recently picked up a GBA SP2 and I think it's currently my favorite gaming platform. I never thought I would sit around the house playing games on a handheld system, but I can't help myself with some of the GBA titles. For years I've been wondering what happened to all the 2D platform games I used to love -- now I know!

GBA sales dead in Japan, still reasonably high in US.

I wouldn't say 35,000 sales each month is really *that* dead in Japan.

I love the GBA it's such a great system

I love all the games they have out for them, plus there's still so many I want to get, especially the rereleases for like SMB 3 and Super Mario World 1 & 2 other games though

it's just a great system and hope it still lives for the next year at least.

Well I hope that the GBA doesn't die anytime soon myself. I just got an SP2, and it's good to have a modern system to collect for again. None of the DVD based systems thrill me. Sure, they have some great games, but most of the best of those get ported to the PC anyway, and at a much cheaper price too. So it's nice to have an affordable system that I can collect for at an affordable price. I just wish that I had gotten one alot sooner. It's getting very hard to find some of the older titles already, and even some of the newer titles are alot harder to find than they should be. But I guess that makes for a good challenge. And those of us who are savvy enough to do it now will be glad we did years from now. In fact, I should be buying extra copies of everything, to sell on ebay in another 5 years or so. HEHE

BTW, I'm with Flack, I play my GBA just sitting around the house alot. Heck, I should buy an extra one to keep in the crapper. They should make a waterproof one just for that.

I think the GameBoy Advance platform is one of the greatest acomplishments in gaming history. You've got a system with many great games with good graphics. Many of the most popular games are those classics we love and are now being released on a new platform that allows younger gamers to enjoy the same games we did growing up.

My only complaint is the original GBA/SP. My dream is a GameBoy Advance with an SP 2 screen. I find the SP very difficult to handle, but I can't hardly bring myself to play on a non-backlit screen anymore. (I'm spoiled now) All I want is a back-lit, comfortable model that takes alkalines. I know it will eat batteries, I don't care. It's easier to change batteries than charge your system while constantly traveling.

Don't expect it to die anytime soon. As nintendo has just announced they will be upping production of the GBA SP next month to meat up with demand.

No, I'm not confusing it with the DS' demand either. It seems they have 2 peices of hardware flying off the shelves.

I haven't really thought about that but I hope they will continue to bring out games for the GBA. I really like that little fellow because it gives me the old-school 2d feeling.
